You almost write that as if you're surprised how good it was.
Don't forget he was a professional athlete, at the peak of his fitness (30) at the time. Training in those days also involved a lot more long running, then the high intensity short distance work of today. I'd have expected quicker if anything.
Ridiculous quote from Mr Castle. bearing in mind he's writing for a mag called Running Fitness, which is probably a beginner fuelled magazine.
For one thing, 4hours for a bloke 20-40 is a completely different story than for a woman 50-60. You can't say the time itself isn't a runner's time full stop.
