Yes we lost the football.

It's not the end of the world.

As soon as we were knocked out of Euro 2012 the usual barrage of bad losers started commenting on Facebook about it.

Get a grip people. I know that it's nice when England win, but if we lose it's not the end of the world. Nobody died. Life goes on. There is such a thing as being a bad loser you know!

Lose gracefully.

Did we ?

Won the cricket and a decent draw in the rugby,

Young brownlee won again... Perhaps it's time we stopped bothering with football

It's actually refreshing to feel that we were just beaten by a better team who deserved to win. No balls over the line, no sendings off, no disallowed goals and no hands of God. Good luck to Italy in the next round.

And yes it was great to see Alistair back in action.

It was not a crushing defeat for England which we should be ashamed about, both teams fought to the very end!

It's the taking part that counts.  Well done to England for taking part again!

I'm relieved it's over.  Life (and tv) can return to normal.

Until July

Not that I've ever felt like phoning the Samaritans after previous penalty shoot-out blunders, but that was easily the least disappointed I've felt after one.  It would have been a bit of an injustice if Italy hadn't gone through after winning on points.  (12,398 completed passes vs. 36 or something...)

Might as well support the Italians now then.  I think they have the best looking spectators left in the tournament.

It was a pretty good game. And I like the fact that even though the Italians had possession fo 97.6% of the time (or something like that) and completed 12, 398 passes against our 36 (I'm assuming Phil has memorised the stat's ), and had 198 attempts on goal, they still didn't manage to score

The only place that rabble could score is in a brothel (allegedly)

I assume from your pirate flag that you are a traithlete. I was reading about the Brownlee brothers this morning and how the third chap selected for the Olympics will act as a domestique for them. This made me wonder why this happens in the elite races but they don't allow drafting in local events. Do you know the rationale for having two systems in place.

Just different rules for ITU and Olympic racing... The pros draft us mortals don't !

I did a few triathlons a few years ago but never took much notcie of the pro-races. Have seen a few recently on TV and noticed that they formed peletons. I was wondering why they allow them to draft as surely this diminsihes the bike portion of the race and really makes it a running race with a swim and bike warm up. For example, why would someone blast to get a lead in the swim when a peleton will form to easily close the gap?

So who was the third choice?

Sturat Hayes

The only negative comments I've seen on FB is the usual "banter" from our Celtic cousins.

Its not like we lost out on anything important. Its only football.

Abuse from a Scottish fan about football, is about as hurtful as being told my a non runner that you haven't raced fast enough
