Hi there,

Just wondering if any regulars could advise when entries for the Abingdon Marathon are likely to open this year? I think it's around the 1st of February but I know that it sells out very quickly and don't want to miss out. If I start checking the website around the end of Jan, does that sound like a plan?

Cheers

Jeepie from previous years as soon as there is a entry date set one of the folks from the club will start a thread up here slyly so we can all get ready for it. It's normally around feb

Was a bit strange seeing the course on the news this week flooded so if any abingdon folks are out there hope your all ok and it's not to bad.

Was feb 1st last year, I'm sure it will be the same again. It normally fills within a month I'm guessing. I used the online last year just to save the stress.

I've started checking already and set reminders for myself in my work calendar.  I'll keep an eye out on here as well.

Hope all those in the area are ok. The floods in general and all the power cuts over xmas look like they'v been terrible.

Great. Thanks Martin. Set a note in my calendar. Need to get organised to get into this event and I don't intend to miss out this year. Really looking forward to it as it's an event I've always wanted to do. Thanks all for the help!

Thanks for the info.  I'll be entering and hoping I shape up ok (baby due end of Feb/early March so it could be tight!)

Yes saw on their website that it's the 1st Feb.  Good luck for baby PipG - sure I've come across you on forum threads before - did you run Abingdon previously?  I've also set reminders - I've run it before but we moved to the Abingdon area a few months ago so I can't not run my local marathon can I?!

I was entered to run it this year but pregnancy got in the way so I sold my place on.  I am hoping I am due some luck this year.  I've managed to finish 2 marathons but trained for about 5 and have been pregnant (didn't know it, almost passed out at mile 18), had a stomach bug or been knocked off my bike by a dog in the build up to previous marathons!

From the race website

2014 Registration Opening Delayed

Registration for the 2014 Milton Park Abingdon Marathon has been delayed. There has been a delay in the approval of the race licence. Apologies for the inconvenience. As soon as this has been resolved a notice will be posted here on this website.

So, it's fingers on mice, then?

Important for me to do this one since it will be marathon no. 99.

Cool thanks. That explains it....saves me checking every few hours!

Hmmm... Hoping to do this one for the first time after missing it for the last 2 years  - it hasn't been open when I have tried to enter and then the next I have heard has sold out!

Hi T Rex!

Hi, jason.  You'll like this one!  The quality of the field will pull you to a PB and there aren't any hills to speak of.

Ooo. Checked the website nervously yesterday only to find the delayed entry notice under the news banner some time in the afternoon! Glad I know that entries have been delayed. Made a note to check the website once a day. From all the comments thus far, looking forward to it! Fingers crossed on the successful entry!
