Cool, will do. With Great Baddow 10 not too far away a few hills would be good!!! That said, the rain was so torrential last year that I didn't really notice the hills!!! ;o)

Kevin,

Just tried again with a different e-mail address, so you may have mail!

Are we all secretly hoping that the race will still be on?

I don't know if that is a possibilty!

It is still not cancelled on the Amblers website......

On the other Abingdon thread, some of the guys are talking about an attempted rescue.

Dunno if this is true or just wishful thinking, but I'm gonna wishfully think as well....

LL, quote from the Abo thread on Fetch:

Our club has made an offer to fill the positions that are required. This is being considered now by the race committee.

Are there people who would still be interested in running this event?

I am now in the totally bizarre position of taking 20 years to work up to entering any marathon, only to be possibly double booked with 2 on the same day!

I haven't cancelled my accommodation for Abingdon yet.

kk, if it does get rescued, it'll all be thanks to you exercising the sod's law by booking another marathon, all forumites will love you for it and buy you drinks.... ;-)

that's cheered mu up Ll. x

And of course, it will mean that rather than us forumites all going our separate ways on other marathons, we'll all be back together at Abingdon for one HUGE party!

Bring it on!

Fingers, toes and everything else crossed!

I really hope to run this great marathon(otherwise i will do snowdonia)So please, please have mercy on me you wonderful organisers:) !!!!!!!

Kaz,

I think they would run the race if they could. Maybe they are hoping to pull something out of the bag. That is probably why they are taking time out before they put it on their website.

Taffyduck,

What's wrong with running both :-P

I am really torn now, just persuaded a friend to do the Dartmoor with me but if this does revive, would love to still do it.

Just following what is going on over in Fetch regarding Abo. Worth a look! :-)

I think so Ll

looks like the rescue attempt failed, but that it should be on for 2008. I'm off to the south hams that day now instead.

This must be the liveliest thread for an event that isn't happening!!

So, definitely off then, but hoped to be held in future years given enough voluntary help.

!!

I've only just found out that Abingdon's been cancelled, and you guys (& girls!) have been talking about it for two weeks! :-)

You'd have thought they'd have sent an email out to those who entered online....I haven't been refunded anything yet but what if I hadn't of noticed?!

I'd planned to do Berlin three weeks before anyway but this is still annoying....oh, well, maybe next year!
