So then, who's up for this? I did this as part of my buildup for FLM last year, and since April I've been sat squarely on my arse, aside from the odd gym session.

I'm looking at 9 weeks of uncomfortable hell to get myself back into the rhythm, although I think I'd struggle with 5k at the moment. I'm trapped through, a mate of mine has entered and I agreed to do it with him ages ago. I shall pinch a 12 week schedule and compress it accordingly.

It was a good race last year though, a bit dank and damp at the start but it warmed up nicely after the first hour, I'm looking forward to it.

petedaddy - get your lazy butt out there and run. I will be there doing the baggage.

I know Tracey, I'm sorry. I had a bad 2 week spell of illness in November that put me off all forms of exercise, I was doing alright up until then

it is a good event in every way i think-

i say that even though my relationship with the organisers isn't sweet

but i'm not knocking the event  - we clocked 1.48 and 1.54 i think there -

we've also taken part there in the East Midlands summer grand prix 10k race in May about 4 maybe 5 times - our times there  - twice around the formula one curquit range from  46.30  - 52 mins

can be exposed though in wrong conditions- and the middle bit is boring around the outer perimeter service road

but that's running for you - your in or your not - simple

petedaddy - I have a FLM club place. I could do a  local race on this day but have decided to pay my club back for my place by helping them out. I will do my lsr on Saturday.

Mick - will I see you at this race?
12/01/2009 at 23:22

Silverstone ?

Na i doubt it  - u enjoy it babe

I'm in - love my motorsport and whilst I'm not expecting anything spectacular to look at, £15 seems very reasonable indeed.
13/01/2009 at 07:36

mick - I don't think getting on a coach from Dagenham at 6am in the morning to go to Silverstone and stand in th cold sorting baggage enjoyable except for seing my running friends.

barongreenback - this was my first ever race and you are right £15 is not bad for this event.

Even better value when I looked at entering the Great Manchester Run again this year...£35!!!! Yeeeouch. Didn't think the goody bag last year was all that great. Shame as it was a fun race.
13/01/2009 at 09:55

petedaddy -  have you entered this race yet?

barongreenback - I know petedaddy from being on the Sub 5hr FLM thread last year. You could do a couple of races for £35.

13/01/2009 at 12:49

Yep Tracey, I entered last night. Gah!

£35 for GMR is far too much. It was £30 last year and that was a joke, it's only a 10k!

petedaddy - Roobarb is doing it.

Hi guys..

I was going to be running the MK half the weekend before this but now unable to do so so thinking about this one.

Can anyone tell me what the route is like please. Is it just multiple laps of the circuit or does it take in the local area? And the big question is, is it flat?

Thanks for your help

Apples - It is all in side the race circuit. A couple of laps of the track, lap in the middle of the track and a lap of the access road around the circuit and it is flat. If you want a undulating/hill race track go to Brands Hatch.
14/01/2009 at 15:38

Apples

1 x clockwise lap of curquit

1 x antil clockwise lap of inner perimeter service road

1 x anti clockkwise lap of cirquit

I't s flat compared to Brands hatch HM

Thanks guys

Going to give this one some serious consideration now, might be worth the journey for it,

Apples

Excuse me saying this - ( I don't know u or your abilty )

go back and read the 4th post on this thread

Like i said- only problem  with Silvesrtone- if the weather is inclement - it can be exposed and hard running

i think it WOULD  be worth your journey

It depends what u want -

14/01/2009 at 16:52

Apple - on the plus side you do get a nice medal.

Mick - I was looking forward to seeing you and Phil at Silverstone

14/01/2009 at 16:58

Tracey - what can i say ahh

You know me, so if i said what i really thought  ( and it does NOT involve the organisers) you'd understand - but others ( some know me - some don't ) may not and may thinking i'm being arrogant and patronising- and if they did think that i could'nt blame them

i certainly would'nt be running for ANY momentoes-  we run to run -Full Stop !
