Antwerp marathon 2008 - Events

Rejected by London again, I've registered online for this one (sister lives in Brussels).

Brussels marathon was fantastically organised and a lovely small field 2 years ago, so I'm guessing Antwerp will be just as organised, and is extremely flat. Even with a field of only 2,000 or so runners there are pacers for most times which is a nice touch.

Anyone in, or done it before? I think it's only in it's second year. There's some lovely beer in Antwerp, and the odd Rubens

Is anyone signed up for this little European number? Eurostar booked, sister on support duty, I'm in!

I've created a route map with multimap, though there's a good one on the race site too. Looks like it's flat as a pancake!

Most of Flanders is flatter than a pancake. Wonder if there will be cobblestones and tram tracks to contend with, if it is run in the city.

Thanks TB - hmm, that's a thought. I ran Brussels in 2006. The Grand Place cobbles were carpetted over and there didn't seem to be problems with tram tracks, but I don't know about Antwerp. I'll report back!
