Berlin Marathon 2011 - Events

I can't seem to find info on this. Does anyone know when it is and also is it diificult to get into. Is it a ballot like London? I would be grateful if someone could provide me with a useful link.

I understand that Berlin is a city well worth visiting.

According to the World Marathon majors website the Berline Marathon will take place on September 25th 2011. Entries are on a first come first served basis and they open about February.

Hi, i'll be keeping my eye on when entries open too, as i want to target this race next year. Last year entires opened (for 2010) in December.

I can't find it on the WMM web-site. Where is it DW20?

I recall for the 2009 race that entries opened in December as well.

No info on the run next year, but this years was sunday gone. Really just sending this to say it was my first marathon, 1999, and the best i have done, really good atmosphere.

Thanks for that DW20. I'll be booking my hotel today before they fill up or the prices go up. Which they will.

I'll post when entries go live but it's usually early December and it takes a few months to fill up. I've known people still enter in March!

Right that's the hotel booked. Family room for £70/night including breakfasts. Subway stop just outside

Sorry for the delay guys - been away in London and missus' birthday last night so wasn't allowed on RW!

Hotel is The All Seasons Hotel at Brunnenstrasse. I booked it off the Accor Hotel's website. The compnay I work for use them all the time so I collect the loyalty points. I didn't use any on this occasion so the price I paid is the general price available. The hotel is only 2* but was only built in the last couple of years so it should be OK and will no doubt be run with usual German efficiency.

The walk to the start is not too bad from there although you can get on the subway if you want. I stayed about 1km closer last year and walked it to the start.

Cheers for that R Dave, thats me booked up as well. Date of next years race has been confirmed on web-site http://www.real-berlin-marathon.com/events/berlin_marathon/2010/index.en.php registration opens this month.

Anyone doing London next year? Got my defered place from this year through the post this morning.

I'm doing London (GFA) although I haven't had the confirmation yet. But they cashed the bloody cheque as soon as I had sent it.

Can I recommend this location for accommodation.

We went as a group of 4 blokes and had a room to ourselves. Plenty of room, good facilities, good location for some bars/restaurants and in a quiet/posh part of town. The staff are the most helpful you could wish for and value for money is the best.

Other runners were using the hostel and the UBahn station is only 50m away and easy to get anywhere, especially the HptBhf for the event itself.

Ran the Scottish Kilomathon 2day, was running a sub 2 hours until I slipped at 8K and twisted my ankle. Finished in 2 hrs 25. Totally pissed

Anyone have a good training session or a race 2day?

Just read http://www.biggleswadetoday.co.uk/news/25_year_old_runner_dies_after_race_1_1377631 that a runner in the race I was in 2day died, puts my injuriy into perspective.

See entries are open Monday 18th October at noon. On a first come basis, 60 euro for first 10k. get in there early..!
