Enjoyed this race last year, back again for 2012, Tunnel was cool, only for the fact we had a walker right at the front, could not see at the time, so we halted to a walk. great finish too, cold beer to relax

I've got my entry in now too. First time that I've been asked in a half marathon entry form whether I can swim 25m!!!!

So, are head torches allowed for the tunnel?...

Just stumbled across this run, looks interesting.  Would the general consensus be that this is a good one for your first marathon??  I'm guessing it is pretty flat right, except for the locks?

I'm running for a club, and doing 3 runs a week at the moment, clocking about 20 mile a week.  I've been running now with the club for the last 2 months, and was aiming to hit a half marathon by the end of the year.  Calling all seasoned pro' you think this might be too much too soon, or should i just jump in (so to speak!) and try this one?  I did 9.5 mile on Sunday at sub 9 min mile pace fairly comfortably, as a guage on my progression to date...

Thanks in advance for any pointers

If you are already on 9.5 miles you will be more than fine for this half! I have never ran this half before but have done others and I always only train up to 11 miles!

You will be completely fine!  xx

Going to run this race when I return to the UK on vacation. I've only run track here in China but I used to run around those canal paths while at Uni. Great settings for runs across seasons & at any hour! I remember them well! Stoked! See you all there. Happy training!!!

This is going to be my first ever race so a lot is going to be new to me.  Looking forward to it.

I've never taken on water from a water station before, I assume it's cups not bottles?  Is there a technique to avoid splashing it all over my face instead of into my mouth?

I managed to get my place last night via RW online entry but I won't know my starting time until I collect my number on Saturday - does anyone who is expecting about 2h20 finish have their start time??

Yes.  11:15am

Thanks Steve B.

Yes water (some may have also energy drink) in cups ... there is no dignified way without stopping (heaven forbid!), just remember everyone else is getting a wet face too! If you have a bottle with you, you could open it on the approach and fill it from the cup, this can be done "on the hoof" so to speak.

Have a good race, most of all enjoy it ... remember to save a bit for the end (the bridges seem to come more frequently) but it is a great finish at Brindley Place.

Good luck everyone, at this rate it will be more of a swim than a run alongside the canal!!!

Mud I can deal with

Good luck and see you all in the bar!

Just been on towpath, good news is there is only one puddle, bad news is that it's 13 miles long.

See you all at the 3 mile mark, please smile for the camera.
