Not done this, but if it starts in Witton Park it probably goes up Buncer Lane, which is really quite steep.

More short sharp hills than really long ones.

It's usually really warm and sunny at that time of the year though. Hoping to do this myself - it'll be just like school cross country all over again.

hi - I was about to post asking if anyone was doing this one. I've never done it yet but am planning to and, yep, Buncer Lane is on the route.

I've done this one twice before, as the August version, and it was always a good race. But yes, it is hilly. I'm sure ukresultsman will be on here soon to tell you more (or just visit ukresults.net).

The goodie bag last August was good - it had a mug, a little money purse-type thing, a little sponge (!) and a Soreen cereal bar.

Not sure why it would be like cross-country though...

Just cos we used to do our school cross country in Whitton Park.

Didn't mean to suggest that this was a x-country run.

well what can I tell you - yes, Buncer Lane is in there (it wouldn't be the same without that!) but so are the scenic view across the Irish Sea and over to the Lake District and Snowdonia (on a good day!) ion the long descent after Buncer Lane and as for the weather, well 'no comment' really..........

Not sure what will be in the goody bag in Feb - I'm waiting to sort this out with Adrian, the race director. We hope for more Soreen bars (which go down very well) but can't presume that they will give us these. I'm working on something else at present but can't tell you what at this stage though.

Would love to see you all there!!

Shame it's same day as Tough Guy.

Would you say that this race is suitable for us 1 hour "penguins" ... or is it more for the faster guys/gals? Would we be welcomed or cursed? Replies please ....
10/12/2003 at 22:45
Everyone is welcome at Blackburn Road Runners races - no matter how slow (or fast!). Look at previous years results (you need to look at August too, as the winter event was held for the first time in 2003) to get an idea of the time spread. So yes - please DO come along. We'll be pleased to see you.

I'm a penguin - have never done a hilly before so am just going to go along to enjoy myself & get round (fast as I can of course......)

Great! See you there then.....

Thanks - feel much happier knowing that!! All things being equal ... see you there (perhaps we can compete for last spot!).
13/12/2003 at 12:11

just another week or two then I'll start mailing out info. Those of you who have entered online should read the stuff on my web site which is basically the mailout without the race number.

I'll be posting an entry list soon so you can see who else is taking part (not so many of you at the moment!!)

Thanks for your interest in the event.

I've still not recieved my number or any details for this, has anyone else?
09/01/2004 at 11:10
no-one has received anything yet. As per the entry form, number mailout starts next week (approx 14th but I may make a start this weekend). Those who have entered online will be receiving an email next week. Online entries to collect numbers from registration on the day. We can't afford postage as the online entries have cost us 75p each.
09/01/2004 at 11:11
I'm notoriously a bit last-minute for entering races - entry is imminent!
09/01/2004 at 11:14
by the way, for anyone who has entered via timeoutdoors.com we have not been paid and timeoutdoors has gone into liquidation although it's resurfacing under the same (but 'new') management (if you know what I mean). We'll honour the entries even though we may never see a penny.

Ho hum - kind of puts you off this online stuff - either costs you £1.50 per entry, or costs us £1.50 or we split it 50/50 (like we've done at RW).
09/01/2004 at 11:19
Think I'll stick with the old-fashioned way - just printed the entry form off. Looking forward to this!
