One of my favourites, don't know how many times I've done this one. So I'm in.

Incidentally, there is online entry on the Burnham Joggers website.

I am doing the Wycombe half marathon in a few weeks time and this race looks like the perfect choice for a second half marathon for me as I am looking for two races that are not so far from each other in the calendar. I hear this one is supposed to be quite scenic! What do you like the most about this one?

I like the start and finish venue and the efficient organization (especially the baggage stow). The course is undulating but not brutal, and there is in general a civilized ambience. And I like being able to have a cuppa before and after.

did this yonks ago, 2002 and 2005. But have done a 10k version in and around the area, and the summer 5k that takes in bits of the  route.

Should probably get back down there one day...

Yes this is a nice 2 looper which I ran a couple of years back and I remember well as I nearly had my head taken off by a badly hit golf ball while running past the golf course.  To this day I don't know how it missed me and it was going some so it would have been the end of my race for sure.

This is a fab run, and if you look out for the roadsigns I'm sure you run just past Egypt!

I'm not keen on two-lappers.

Otherwise, it is nice but if I remember rightly the car park is a long walk from the race HQ?

That's fine before hand, but not so great afterwards!

Loz, that sounds ridiculously reckless of the golfers, bearing in mind 2,000 people would have been going past!!

Wilkie, back when I did it, the parking was still say 1/2mile away, but it was at least in a field on the Beeches. I think there were a few breakins though.

The parking is miles way now isn't it? I remember because one year i was playing at a footy pitch a fair hike from there, yet saw loads of runners walking by!

The weather always seems to be hot that day in August too...whereas even June and July races you can be quite lucky for

Same old faces....

I`m in this one too.

Does anyone know if Burnham still has that "gold" standard for the race?

And more importantly, what the blazes that actually means!?

Something to do with Spandau Ballet?

Hi Muttley! Long time no speak. I've had a long 3 year lay off, thanks to 4 knee operations on the same knee, so finally they gave up and just gave me a new one. Back to plodding around again and looking for some nice runs. This seems pleasant enough, so may just put my name, and dick dastardly's, down for it. Did the bewl 15 last sunday, and that was tough. Booked up for the Amsterdam marathon in October too! Will I never learn??

Hello Muttley 2! If we operate together we might catch that pigeon

A definite possibilty. And "operate" is a four letter word to me, but mainly cos I cant spell! Dick dastardly will probably get involved though, so we can forget the pigeon, but the more the merrier.

Hey Stevie G, the Gold Grading is from the British Association of Road Races. All the info here:

Any idea where I can access a route map and profile detail?

Oh I think I might give this one a go again...just talked to sister into it...and husband...so nice family day out.

Just hope it isn't so hot this year.

Nick - you might find the info on the Burnham Joggers website.
