Just looked on the Burnham Joggers website - the race seems to be off this year.
What a shame - I really enjoyed this event last year and even managed to get a pb. At least it seems to be a temporary thing - back in 2006, apparently. Hope so.

Was it not cancelled the year before last as well?

That's a shame. I've done this one for the past couple of years, and thought it was an excellent and very well organized event. I hope it makes its comeback.

I don't think so...
From the website:
"The ballooning costs, lack of a major sponsor and loss of key members of the organising committee has made this impossible. However, we are rethinking the event and hope to have it back on the road for 2006. "

Wasn't cancelled foot & mouth year?
Haven't done it for the past two years but was hoping to make a reappearance this year - sadly not to be....

Oh bugger. This is my favourite race of the year. Ah well, I look forward to its triumphant return in 2006.

I wonder how much a "major sponsor" would have to provide? Anyone know?

Thanks for the kind comments about the Burnham Half. In 2005 it was not just the money- lets face it we could gave upped the entry by £3 or £4.
Year after year the same dedicated bunch of volunteers have spent many hours organising this race. Unfortunately several key members moved out of the area in a short period and others are away in August this year. We just did not have enough back up without bringing in the professionals at high cost.
Unfortuately this was one of the first decisions I had to make after becoming Club Chairman. Take heart we are already planning the 2006 race!

Looking forward to it coming back next year - was one of my favourite races of 2004 (although my legs would disagree).
