Paul,

It is a resurrected race and the start and finish locations are yet to be confirmed, so I'm not sure if even if someone has done this before it will be the same course as previously.

What I do know is that Nice Work are overseeing it and their races are always excellent. We have, as a family, probably entered their races almost hundred times and are yet to be disappointed.

May well do this one as well.

Hi Paul,

I ran this one in the 1980s when it started & finished at the cricket ground, went into the city centre & out with a bit more variety to the same rural Chartham Downs area as always.

The last used route (May 2010) is a simplified, almost straight out & back route but with a loop for the outermost section. It started at the rugby ground & did not go into town.

Check out this web page from my Garmin site - not the actual event but a practice last year a week before Hastings. The route is exactly as for the last (2010) event.

Copy this to your browser address pane & I think the maps etc will now load on phones, iPads, etc without Flash as well as on computers.

I' m betting the route will be as for 2010 assuming continued permission from Canterbury Rugby Club....

okey cool well im not from canterbury im in Telford, but have been to Canterbury many times as have family in Herne bay, just wondering as i dont have many hills over this way like u do, what would be the best incline to have the running machine on at the gym?

Hi All

We will shortly be able to confirm the route but I can tell you that it will incorporate the bulk of the course used when the race was last run in 2010. The main difference is the location of the start and finish which will now be at Merton Farm - close to the rugby club. The last time the rugby club was used it was accepted that the race had outgrown that venue, so a change was needed.

Am local to Canterbury..never run a half marathon before so thinking of making this my first.. advisable???

Paul if it's the same as previous years there is only one big hill. 10 mile ish point- not sure re treadmill incline - lets just say that it's most people walk up it! There are 2 long inclines About mile long also-

Just signed up!

First half marathon (normally do 5-6milers), thought i'd have a go at this as i'm local (Herne Bay).

Big thanks to Tom for the course, will try to get out and have a go over the coming weeks.

Anybody got any tips from past experience?
