Meet someone from my old works place who loves jogging. A bit older than me and was aiming for 50 mins. Came in around 55 mins. He did mention that I'll get hooked on jogging and not to go to quick at the start.
Aimed for 4mins 40 secs/kilometer to get under 47 mins. At the start, started just off the front runners. It was the only time we were on the road. First kilometer ran in 4 mins 22secs. Way too fast but had a guy from the CATS club running besides me. He was aiming for 48 mins. He had a stronger pace so let him pull me along. A few times had to dig deep to keep with him.
Splits. 1st 4mins 22secs, 2nd 4mins 26secs, 3rd 4mins 24secs, 4th 4mins 24secs, forgot the 5th split as I wanted to soak my head at the water station. So average 5th 4mins 32secs, 6th 4mins 32secs, 7th 4mins 32secs. The 8th kilometer marker was on the post the wrong side so clocked it after coming down the hill. So average for the 8th 4mins 36secs and the 9th 4mins 36secs.
The final kilometer, miss gauged the distance to the finish and pulled away from the CATS guy only to realise you need to go around a corner and run to the finish line. He had the strength to beat me.
