Nothing too difficult Jo, some gentle ups and downs and you get to do it twice! It's a popular event with people of all speeds running, even me...

Thanks   Nice to hear 'gentle'    it means I  have a decent chance of beating my first 10k time

Mmmm, I live on a hill so "gentle" is relative! Take it easy first lap and then let rip second time around when you know what's coming.

I have just recieved my running numer today. I have a minor niggle in my knee but raring to go. Looking forward to finishing and getting my medal or t shirt.

Jo have you been doing much training for this?

Id have to agree with GB1 with regards to how hilly this is. i used to live in essex but now live in derbyshire so when i first did the race, yes it was hilly but now iv run around the course a few times then no its not particularly hilly. with regards to PB, its not ideal but you will not get stuck behind anyone on the route because the course is quite open. But the hills will stop any great times.

I can't really avoid hills (leek staffordshire) so not too worryed.   I have just started doing some "speed training"  so I am hopeing to see a bit of improvement.  mmmm'  hope I'm not being too optomistic.

Got my number too dirt monkey..........300

I'm doing it - hopefully my knee injury will be ok and I'll get through it.

I'm not quite in the shape I was in for last years Sheffield Half Marathon, but this race is the acid test to see if I can possibly run in Sheffield again this year.

It's also going to be my friends first ever run - so it'll be a case of nursing each other round I think.  I'm doing this one instead of Lincoln and I may do the Rother Valley 10km if the weather isnt as hot as it was last year - because that is "pancake" flat although windy on the back straight!

im only doing it because its sponsored by the gym/running club i go to. my main aim is the flm so will probably use this as a training speed session but im sure once im at the start ill probably change my mind and go for it, not that you would notice either way lol... Glad its chipped this year, i prefer to start at the back and then pass a few people rather than have them passing me.

Is the Dronfield 10k comparable to the Bolsover 10K. I thought the marshals there were great. Whats everyones estimated times. I hope to beat 46 mins
25/02/2008 at 13:56

First chipped race for me, I hope that helps bring my time down a bit!!

I want get under 52........ the closer to a sub 50 the better.

26/02/2008 at 16:43
Bolsover was flat to undulating, out into the countryside and relatively traffic free
Dronfield is on the side of a hill, urban and road not closed off
Course will be slower due to hill, which you have to run twice
Hoping for 50 mins

Live in Dronfield so suporting local race
26/02/2008 at 18:11
anything around the 50min mark will do me, not looking for a pb because know its not likely.

Hi dave

Will use you as a marker to try for that elusive sub 50, although I think it will be more than likely around 52/53ish as I know the course!!

If I can at least keep you in view I know I will be doing well.

Adrian I also live in Dronfield and its good to know we have such a well organised race on our doorstep.

havent seen you alot recently john... iv got to do 18 at least on thursday so i wont be holding my breath for a fast time, well what id call a fast time lol. ill still be aiming for a sub 50 though so your more than welcome to keep me company..

I have entered this one as my first race in 2 years , my aim is to get round without walking!!

If I am under an hour I will be dead chuffed,

I used to run a lot, but lost interest a couple of years ago, I am hoping that it will get me back into it, and give me a benchmark to move forward.

Only time will tell !!
