Emmett,

do you mean races or training routes?

how far are you looking to run?

what surface are you looking for?

Hi Peter.

Im looking for anything from half marathon to 20 miles. I did Rotterdam in April and 3 weeks before there was a 20 mile prep race in Hyde Park for the London marathon which took place the same day as Rotterdam.

I would be interested in any races or any training routes that are good marathon prep. Dublin takes place late Oct so anything from early Sep til mid Oct

Cheers

Thanks a mil Peter,

I've just completed a half marathon so I'm going to make my decision this week whether to do Dublin or not.  If so I'm going to do at least 2 of these training runs.

Thanks again,

Emmet

Done it before Stanley? What's you're taret time? I'm hoping to get under 3:30 (three attempts at Chester, Abingdon and London so far , all in the 3:32-3:38 range).

DrD no, first time at Dublin for me.

Hoping I can duck under 3.10 (current PB) - think its going to be tight on current form but really looking forward to it anyway.

I did my 4th 20 miler yesterday with 10 miles at MP ... will do the Robin Hood marathon in 2 weeks which will be my 5th and final long run before Dublin.

Wow - using a marathon as a warm up, don't think I'd ever recover in time! Took the weekend off as feeling slight tightness in leg (where had problems earlier this year that meant missing London) but rest seems to have done the trick.

I've got 4 x 20 miles under belt so far but nothing at MP, hence reticence about clocking a fast time. But, have got a half this coming weekend that should give me a better idea of where I am.

Also wonder if anybody has tips about best places for spectators - taking family with me, they know Dublin pretty well but any advice on good spots to watch, how crowded it is near over the last few miles would be appreciated?

Not sure about spectator points ... been to Dublin many times but not for the marathon.

The extra marathon is an experiment ... which may go horribly wrong. But didn't fancy putting all my eggs in one basket this time in case I'm ill or have a bad day at the office. Just need to make sure I pull out at Nottingham if it's going badly, and keep my powder dry for Dub.
