Hi,

Is anybody else thinking of entering Dublin in October of this year?

The website says that it is flat,

http://dublinmarathon.ie/

has anybody run it before, if so it a decent course etc?

cheers

Hi Peter. I'm planning on running it this year and if I make it to the start line it'll be third time lucky as I failed to make it due to injury the past two years!

So unfortunately I can't give you my personal experience, but it is meant to be pretty flat, with great support from the crowds all the way around. I think that there's a bit of a drag about mile 22, but nothing too bad. There's plenty of threads about it on here.

Did it last year - great race and good support. It doubles as the Irish national champs so there is a good mix of club and charity type runners.

sounds good I think I have made my mind up.  Dublin it is, training in earnest stats july14th - Is anybody else going in for it this year?

I'm thinking about it too as a place to make my first ever marathon run. It's my dads home city, been there plenty of times and have family living there so i'll be good for somewhere to kip beforehand. Just need to price up flights as it's half term that week, as well as being a bank hol in Ireland.

No better place to go drinking either. I'll be limping aroung Copperface Jacks or the Bleeding Horse later that night fingers crossed!

I'm thinking about it too. Missed out on Brighton due to injury and need a new goal.

I did it last year. My second marathon after London. I had a brilliant time, really recommend it. Good luck!

I've been faffing about and haven't booked my flights yet. I think it's the realisation that once I do... It's game on!

I ran Dublin last year. I think it's a great marathon. It's well organised with waved starts so it's not too congested. The route is nice with plenty of crowd support. There are a few minor inclines and a few welcome declines, but it it mostly flat. I would definitely recommend it.

Dublin was my first marathon in 2011. The atmosphere was incredible. The support of the spectators Heartbreak Hill was fantastic. Due to injury I can not start in 2014., But I am looking forward to 2015. The course is interesting and not difficult.

Game on - booked my place and booked my flights £63 return.

can anybody recommend a hotel near the start line?

I stayed at Kilronan House, It was about a 10-15 walk to the start line. They did an early breakfast for us runners and gave me a bin bag for the start line wait. Clean, friendly, good value.

We stay allways in the  Mont Clare Hotel www.montclarehotel.ie/

It`s less then a 5 min walk to startline and the finishline is directly in front of the hotel.

Thanks Pete

We're booked into the Camden Court Hotel, used it when I last did Dublin in 2005.

Hi there,

Living in London and wanting to do the Dublin Marathon, would you recommend any good training runs that are taking place beforehand in the London area?

Thanks,

Emmet
