Miggitio - it was actually one of the Garmin ready plans from this site that I salvaged before they were taken down. Have modified it a bit though!
Finally feel like I'm back to being healthy enough to run again, wee quick 5km today and the chest didn't explode, or feel any worse than it should for that distance and pace! Hoooray!
Pretty poor weather at the moment, although I am enjoying the light drizzle to keep me from getting too warm.
Everyone else still feeling motivated now that winter is on it's way out?
Another sunny day. I decided to do my long run for the week early. Only 14 miles but I found it rather tough. Tomorrow will have to be a rest day as I am feeling achy.
Hope everyone's training is going to plan.
Just catching up on all the updates. Great running by all concerned.
Kathryn - hope all goes well with the physio, definitely the right thing to do. Got injured last year (inflammed tendon in lower leg) and was out for 6 weeks but followed physio's advise and all the exercises and has never bothered me since. Tough to not get out running though! Will be worth it in the end.
Colin - must be folllowing the same plan runners world 3:45? Have my first 4m Fartlek session tomorrow, so will heed your advice and take it easy today beforehand. Sounded like a tough session.
People seem to be starting to hit the longer runs now, did a 13 miler last sunday in 1:59 felt good, so happy so far.
Evenings getting brighter definitely makes it all a bit easier!
Good running this weekend to all and be safe.
Hiya Miggito, As luck would have it am taking High 5 Gels and that's what they are dishing out in Edinburgh. I got some with caffeine for a boost !! Still experimenting with the interval but maybe on the day will be 5, 10, 15, 20 and the next b4 i collapse !!
Hey Colin Lee 4, thanks for asking. The 8 on Tuesday went well, 8.24's. Went out to do similar this morning early (obviously too early!!!) and felt absolutely knackered ! Cut it short and just made it a slower 6 so am rested for the 16 this Saturday.
So glad the weather is getting better and looking forward to running in daylight after work
Kathy H - Nice 14 miles
Pineapple Toastie - Well done on the 5km, hopefully this is you getting back into the swing of it without the chest issues
Robbie71 - I'm following the sub 4 plan so probably be the same bar the times, yours slightly quicker. My 13 miles had to be run in 2:10 but did 13.5 in 2:08 so happy with that.
1204 - Nice 8 mile, know how you feel on the knackered bit, my Fartlek faded after 3 reps so 2.5 later turned round and steady jog back.
After a few days rest after the club run on Tuesday, decided to do a Tempo run today as missed some speedwork. Nearly had the 4 seasons in one go, was windy, hail stone, flutters of snow and sun, no rain!!!
Completed 10k (well 6.3 to be exact) in 49:09 @ 7:52 pace, splits look like this 7:58, 7:58, 7:49, 7:58, 7:43, 7:39, 8:05, not a bad effort. At the Scotland v France six nations game tomorrow so going to rest and then 15 miles on Sunday and trying out SIS gels for the 1st time too.
