Go on then, I'm in. I guess I can have the extra portion of Xmas Pudding without feeling guilty if I do this event.

My first 10k as well, so a guaranteed PB!

Anyone else up for it?

I'm hoping to do this.....it'll be my second one so also hoping for a PB as hopefully will be a little quicker now than when I did my first one, however haven't been able to run for 10 days as conditions have been so bad so keen to get back out in the next few days and get back to training.

Yep I'm in for this one.  Never done it before, but is local so hoping it will be good fun.  Is an excuse to get out over the festive period anyway!!
I'm like you J Lav, no running for about 10 days either.

25 mins drive. 10 miles along the M2, turn off to Maidstone just after the Medway Bridge, go down M20 2 junctions to Leeds Castle turn off, along A20 for 4 miles. Total 25 miles, 25 mins.

Hey thanks will give it  a think!!!! Prob about an hour for me then!!!

It is motorway or duel carrageway all the way apart from final 4 miles of A road, so shouldn't be too slow!

Just got the green light by her that needs to be obeyed in doors and have signed up for this one.

Looking forward to getting out over the crimbo period and blowing away some cobwebs, only round the corner from me, can't wait

It's more like 40min to Bluewater - 30 if you really put your foot down.

We live close enough to run to the start as a warm up, so we may turn up on the day if we're not too tired from the previous two days.

Fingers xxxxxxed that we can run this event , several other local events have already fallen victim to the weather , i will check the course on boxing Day and post up on the website to let everyone know , if postponed then it will be run on Feb 20th .

Come on give us a break haven't we had enough snow this year.

Any one live local and know the score? I live in North Kent and the pavements are still covered in ice

Have been running, but lot safer on the trails and woodland paths at the moment around here.

We still have ice in places on the pavements and it's not melting very fast. I have a feeling it will be cancelled myself but you never know.

They are going to announce today if it will on or off so just have a look on the site after 2pm.

I really need a run and this snow and ice is a real pain at the moment. I will have to try some off road.

Ice in South Kent as well. Have only run 5 miles this week (out of a planned 62)  due to head cold. Not sure I would be well enough to run tomorrow anyway, but a shame if its put back to the 2nd as many people I know are running the Thatet Duathlon on this day.

Taken from the Velocity Events website (even though it doesn't actually mention which event, I assume it is the 10k):
"Race postponed until Sunday 2nd -i have just inspected the course and as expected about 30% of the tarmac is still covered by ice . However , the forcast is for temperatures to rise this week and continue the thaw . i will monitor the course and keep this site updated , hope to see everyone on Sunday"

Unfortunately that rules me out as I'm back over in Oslo

unfortunately we now join the long list of events which have fallen foul of the weather in the last few weeks , a steady thaw this week should see the race taking place on Sunday 2nd .

Oh no that rules me out, cant do 2nd Dec, have to look into what options are if any?

So can I just confirm that this event is 100% canceled as per previous message it is not clear on website if the post means it is for this event ?
27/12/2010 at 22:10

I have emailed the race organiser, as if you click on the events tab, a date is given for the event of Feburary
20th if the 27th cancelled.  Will post any useful info here as the website is pretty misleading.  In the events tab link, it also mentions that race credits or refunds will be issued if the new date is not convenient.  Again, I have asked for further info on this.

OK, I have heard from them.

The race is scheduled for this Sunday 2nd, with the February date as a backup incase Sunday is also frosted off.

If you cannot make it, contact them and they add you to a refund list.

Hope this helps.
