Andy, what do you think the key change to your training was to get that improvement. I recently improved from 1:37 at Helsby to 1:29 in Warrington. My long term goal is now 1:19:xx

Luke- i literally just ran more and consistently so for example

2010 race time 1:27:50 was off about 30mpw

2011 race time 1:24:18 was off about 40-60mpw

2012 race time 1:18:00 was off about 65mpw

also with each passing year training is getting more consistent.

its really nothing complicated, just about the hours in consistently week in week out. also its about training sensibly, not running your self into the ground, by this i mean not hammering every single training run.

its a great course isn't it, with a flat first half an then a few climbs in second half to give that brilliant downhill 2mile to the finish.

It is a good course and I also think it is because of the time of year, everyone ready to shake off post Christmas crap.

I'm in 1180th to enter. After horrible last 6 miles at Chester yesterday,I'm looking forward to a more sensible distance !

Cheers Andy. Think that's been the key to my improvement as well. I'll just keep banging out the miles then. (As soon as I can walk again after Sandy Lane left me in pieces!)

Got an email from the organisers today,  1200 signed up already with a limit of 2000 runners, will be full up within a week or so.

Hay heow how are you today, my legs are well DOMS'ed but they'll good for a run by thursday, as long as its taken flat and steady biggest priority is a full recovery then going all in for helsby in Jan. Cant wait to get me teeth into the training and mileage. Love the training.

Luke ellis 2- dont feel intimidated by any training plans though. I find that most runners can get better just a) getting more consistent and b) doing more
The problem is some people struggle to understand that option b doesn't allways mean adding quality. Usually steady miles can make the difference your after.

You asked, so I shall give you the truth...  I am like a bag of boiled shit.  In bed, destroyed.  Reason being:  didn't recovery fuel correctly.  A latte, wine and beer and pizza has caused dehydration.  I never learn.   You not jumped on the FB Chester group yet?
