Thanks for the link, eggyrocks. Just realised that I wasn't the last home for my club. I just pipped a runner on the line with my impressive finishing sprint (well, slightly faster than normal shuffle!) and it turns she was from the same club but not wearing one of our vests. So it was definitely worth the extra effort, although part of me thinks it probably isn't good to be this competitive.

Not a big deal but are the times on that website gun times or chip times? Appear to be gun times to be but I might have lost 15 seconds somewhere? (it often happens!)
21/01/2008 at 13:12
They are definitely gun times.  My chip time should be at least 2 minutes of what is shown there.
21/01/2008 at 13:13
I did spot that the clock said 1.30 something when I crossed the line and my watch was 1.29 dead so def gun times.
21/01/2008 at 13:32
so its the 1st lap time the chip time?
21/01/2008 at 13:37
As far as I know the chip times arn't available yet Bootsie, they'll be be published on the Striders website when they are.
21/01/2008 at 13:39
If I remember rightly both times were the same - I think in this case it's irrelevant cos it wasn't a lapped course
21/01/2008 at 13:45
Didn't notice that Kaz, the split times must be the chip times then.... so to speak!
21/01/2008 at 13:48
ooh I hope so! that means i went sub 1 hr 45!! massive achievement for me!
21/01/2008 at 13:49
So you didn't have to run the course twice then after all!
21/01/2008 at 13:50
hah! nope.. really really proud of my time.. a good start for me and it gave me confidence!!
21/01/2008 at 13:54

The person I thought I finished ahead of has a faster chip time...

I did come last

21/01/2008 at 13:56
awww!! but sure what does it matter as long as you enjoyed yourself little nemo
21/01/2008 at 13:58

Thanks for clarification. Well done bootsie

As Bootsie says LN a long as you enjoyed it...and anyway you did it so well done

21/01/2008 at 14:12

That's v. true Bootsie and Keith L. I did finish faster than I had thought so it doesn't really matter. I had fun and that's what's really important.

I'll stop sulking in a mo

For confirmation the leg time is the chip time start to finish and finish time is time to gun, so in reality your time is the leg time - I couldn't imagine running a 2nd leg that's for sure!

Provisional results are now available at

My chip time of  81.32 precisely matched my stop-watch time.   So, no complaints there.

The 'gun to line'  time was 82.20,  proving once again how useless 'official' times are if you start well behind the line.

***Remembers to kick Brooks rather hard next time I see him***

Kick ? Kick ? Don't you mean scratch me with fully extended claws

Hope you are feeling better todaty Mitts. I still have a stiff leg. Mind you I did beat Richard W by around 5 minutes and he beat me at Buntingford (when I had a bad cold) so at leats normal service is resumed
