Is it wrong to race a fun run?

I know kids race fun runs but is it wrong for a 29 year old to race it.  I want a short sharp road race before a triathlon but there is nothing except a fun run for a 10km near me and don't want to travel.  Having not run a fun run for years I was wondering if it was wrong to turn up in a singlet and HRM or should I "dress down".

This is not meant to be a holier than thou question it's just I haven't run one in a while and don't want to upset people.  It's a fun run after all!

Are there results fromlast year? -if so- did anyone else go at anywhere close to your goal pace? - if so, it's fine!. IF not..........well, they may not be ready for you at the finish!

Perhaps you could contact the organisers and ask if they'd have a problem with it? I can't imagine they would, but if you ask then you'll know. As for others doing the run, let them run their race and you run yours
Personally, I'd probably just go and run it how you want to!

or measure a training route and cane that instead. That would be free too....

We have a "fun run" in our Overton 5 mile event, it's half the distance and the local clubs' juniors turn out in force.

They usually run 2.5 miles in well under 15 minutes, sub 6 minute mile pace and it's a hilly course!!

How about a Park run?

I've had a look and although I will be amongst the first I wont look out of place! Others have obviously had similar ideas.  Thanks for the advice!
