Because of the present weather conditions an inspection will be made of the race route on Friday Dec 3rd. Further information will be posted on the club website www.garstangrc.co.uk and John Schofield’s race calendar www.ukresults.net

Thank you for this information - it is really helpful posting this in advance. I hope it saves a few phone calls to the Director tonight! It must be really difficult for everyone organising a race this weekend.
Are you able to give us an approximate idea of the time of inspection?

Sorry about the late response (on here), the websites were updated last night by the race director after many hours sorting out an alternative route. The alternative route has been measured with 2 garmins this morning (it is too late at this stage to get the course officially certified, sorry) but the alternative route is still 10 miles. The route conditions have changed again from yesterday with more snowfall last night so another assesment will be made later today. Sorry for all you keen runners who want to know if the race is on or not but the weather just isn't playing fair at the moment and the route is changing all the time so please bare with us!

Hi,   I am planning on running your race tomorrow. Pending weather conditions of course, I plan to make the journey from Darlington in County Durham which is around 100 mile away. I will be entering on the morning and my enquiry is will I stand a good chance for entry on the day or are you expected to be full. Of course I plan to arrive in good time to register but would hate to make to long journey if for arguments sake there was only a dozen places available on the day.   Any advice would greatly be appreciated,

Just been round the route again!! The route is now clear and the decision has been made to use the alternative route (still 10 miles). So unless the heavens open with snow again tonight or a really hard frost I am pleased to say the race will go ahead, so I look forward to racing against you tomorrow and a rewarding round of cheese!

Hi Mark, I am not the race organiser but have just been helping out with the added work due to the bad weather. From speaking to the orgainser, entries on the day will still be taken there was at least 100 entries so as long as you turn up early (rememeber it is a 10.30 start!) you should have no problem. This race has filled up many times previously so the earlier the better!

Sorry to have to inform people but we have had to cancel todays race due to very bad ice on the course. I know you were looking forward to running today but it is just too dangerous. Sorry once again

Hi,

Luckily I took my phone today and was checking the site as I was driving, Had 40 mile left of my 110 mile journey. Was dissapointed but I suppose it could of been worse had I not taken my phone. I parked up and ran the Guy Fawkes 10 mile route instead so not an entirley wasted journey.
