just wondered how everyone else got on at Glasgow today?I was 6 mins slower than last year and it was definetely the wettest race i have ever taken part in.i still enjoyed it though and my slower time was mainly due to lack of training and not the rain.Special mention must go to the race volunteers on such a miserable day- well done and thanks

Thunder, lightning, torrential rain and flooding...and sunshine as I crossed the finish line, good old Scottish weather.

Also, a personal best by 4 minutes...what more can you ask for?

I agree a special thanks must go to the race volunteers and pipers.

Ah, so that's what I was listening too during the night, must have got as far as Glasgow by the time it was your turn to race.
Congratulations (and nice pic Tommy). Wonder how Drew et al got on?

Graeme, Tommy Ticketyboo, You all missed a really great night of pasta and chat. What happened, would have been good to see you in Bella Pasta.

What did you all think of the puddles in Bellahouston Park? Must have been at least 12 inches deep in places.

Morning Drew,

I know it was the way the water was washing across the path at the medical tents. It was hell. I must have started just about next to you, but I did not see you. I am sorry about your not getting under 1:20 but I am sure soon. So what is your advice for my training now.

How do I build up so I can keep this sort of pace up for 42.2km (26.2 miles)? If I can do it I will be in for a Good for your age place at London!!!! Which would be over an hour off this years time.

SB, If you want to keep up this pace for a marathon then you could do what I do. Run your long runs at your marathon goal pace. Sounds easy, but it's not. If you do one of these runs every 3 weeks then your marathon time will improve.

By the way you should get your sister to log on as she would be able to provide technical help and advice for all of us who cross train using bikes.

She can not sit allday chatting on this forum thought, nor should I but never mind I will see what she says, She might get a column on the URWFRC Website.

I was running in Glasgow yesterday. Cetainly the wettest conditions I've ever raced in but at least it wasn't windy.

Personally, apart from hanging around at the start, I loved it! All that splashing through puddles and getting soaked to the skin.

It was a good test of my new shoes (which only gave me the smallest of blisters) and my stretchy running shorts which worked wonderfully to prevent the thigh chaffing I suffered in Inverness.

Only managed to knock a minute off my PB which was a little disappointing (I'm just too polite and rule abiding to push my way to the front at the start). I couldn't read my watch because of the rain and I found the mile markers hard to spot. It was only at the halfway mark that I realised how far off my pace I'd slipped. I ran the second half 5 minutes faster than the first!

As prepartion for Dublin I'm happy with my 1:41 time and the fact that I finished it still feeling strong.

SB, can't get access into the GSR results link, although the junior one's working ok. Could you let me know my official time and position? Thanks.

Thanks SB. 100 places better than last year, but well outside my goal of top 50.
