Come one, come all; everyone welcome on this year long build up to the GNR
thanks Shielsy how are you feeling now after M of the N? Having a rest from running this week after foot pain, doing walking and gardening instead. Foot is better so plan to run again at w/e. I am following a gentle base plan then will do an 18 week plan for October. I have paid to have a personalised plan to hopefully help me improve my marathon technique and time (would love to do a 5hr mara!) Hope maybe to get a place to run GNR next year. Would you recommend it?
Shielsey - yes its the clive cookson 10k
Graham - i really enjoyed the relays and was pleased with my run, sorry i didnt see you there, are you doing clive cookson ?
just been along to the club tonight and got the closest ive ever been to throwing up during a club run ! We did a fartlek session along the coast, 13 minutes running with loads of sprints and then turn and head back in less time, got put in the fast group and we were flying alogn at stupid speed, the way back i was struggling but clung on somehow, reest now til sunday and then 10k on weds
Random question, the back end of last year I suffered with gastritis, I've been ok but since I started running I've been suffering with my stomach again, do you think it's just a coincidence or do you think the running may be affecting it? xx
Lily- I'd definitely recommend the GNR. It has the crowds and atmosphere of the London marathon but is only 1/2 the distance
ms sj- that's an impressive turn of speed. No holding you back at the TR24 ! Although if you are too fast it means the rest of us won't get so much sleep .
mr sj, I would be doing the Clive Cookson but I'll be away. I'm looking at the Aycliffe 10K on June 16th as an alternative.
Lily - good luck with the personalized running plan. I'd definitely recommend the GNR - lots of crowd support, the route is the correct distance (), lots of other runners around you so you'll never get lonely or have to ask a marshall the way ... and a fly past by the Red Arrow at the start which is a goosebump moment. Be aware though that it's not cheap!
thanks Shielsy, am loving your positive points about the GNR versus M of the N! Will try and enter for 2014...
... and I'm very jealous you have a personlized marathon training plan
Although that said I'm not sure I still want to put my body through another marathon (or my OH the responsibility of dealing with most of the domestic duties whilst I'm off running all the time).
Really want to do South Shields parkrun tomorrow, but I'm working at 1pm so I'm not sure I'll be able to do it and have time to get back home, washed changed and fed and out the house again to be in Newcastle for 1pm ... all on public transport.
Shielsy don't let last marathon put you off you have unfinished business find a good flat marathon and train hard for it you can go sub 4 and you need to pove it to yourself - you can then stop doing mara's
Shielsy - I agree with the Bear
Shielsy- come and do our marathon in 2014. It flat and fast- almost a guaranteed PB! Lovely marshals, and its the full 26.2! Sadly its full for this year..
OS - which one is that
Yay! I guessed right
(I knew really....)
Think I might be back in time for another crack at Manchester next year though....
2 years of one marathon is enough for me so not Manchester for me next year - hopefully London and if not that then maybe Windermere
Morning all Maidstone Parkrun for me this morning - lets see what all this hype is about the Parkruns - me feels I may get hooked
Parkruns are great bearsted, enjoy !
a day in the rain in the garden for me fitting some decking, oh the joys !
First Parkrun done (lovely weather as well) - 21:40 - was hoping for 21:30 but happy as have a bit of a cold and struggled a bit with breathing.
Have just skim read as I seem to be stupidly busy at the mo. Great news on the op date Vixx!
I have my first league track race today. Guaranteed PB as I've never raced 3000m before
