I'd suggest charities at this late space of time.... alternatively ask the organisers if they have any waiting places available for those that cancel last minute etc.
Why do you want to do the GNR in particular? Lots of other HMs around.
A month later there's the Jedburgh half, which isn't too far and there's still places on that. I don't think the GNR will have a reserve list but you might pick one up on ebay or similar nearer the time. You will be running under someone else's name.
