anyone got a waterproof camera?
20/10/2004 at 12:16
I am thinking about doing this, I am worried that I will be really little slow as I only started running 6 months ago and I am still a beginner, it would be really good to say I had done it....and I do live about a mile away so in a way I could call it my local race!!!

Still not convinced will have to ponder a little more....
20/10/2004 at 12:20
I'd say go for it Tamsy, only started running 7 months ago myself!

Considering that you live soooo close you really can't miss this one, go on.... it'll be a laugh, albeit a muddy and wet one!!
20/10/2004 at 12:32
I am half tempted Tara

What kind of times are people thinking they will do??

I am an 11 minute miler on flat ground, with hills it will proberly go to 13/14 so say 15 x 8 it will take me around 2hrs then add 15 mins for the swim I do on the way and maybe another 15 for anything else which may happen I will be aiming at 2.5hrs would this be reasonable, will I be last or are my estimations way out???

Tamsy - this is definitely NOT a pb type course, and I for one will be running to enjoy it. My slow runs are 11-12 min/miles and if you'd like to do this event I'll run round with you to keep you company (did this with Pixie last year and we had a great laugh)
20/10/2004 at 12:48
As long as the pub is open when I finish then I couldn't care less what time I get.
20/10/2004 at 12:50
There you go Tamsy, problem sorted!

I'm not going for a pb either, what's the point there's going to be sooo many obstacles in the way!

personally I'm just hoping to complete the damn thing in one piece and with minimal tears shed along the way!
20/10/2004 at 12:51
lol I like your thinking, it's just a PB with an extra 'u'!
20/10/2004 at 12:58
And we won't see the tears with all the water and mud.
20/10/2004 at 13:05
how are your bike...er, injuries Gavo?
20/10/2004 at 13:05
haha yeah you'll just hear me wailing: "why did I agree to this...!!!"
20/10/2004 at 13:26
Mostly OK now Dutchie, ta. I'll try not to get hit by any cars just before this. How stupid of me.
20/10/2004 at 14:11
Ok ok I'm in!!! But as long as we go for a well earn pint at the end!!! (Is there any where to shower??) Mind you I will be able to pop home!

Tamsy - you are being rather hopeful asking about showers..... standard practice at this one is just to strip naked in the car park!
20/10/2004 at 14:18
haha shouldn't have said that Tamsy, gonna all pile round to yours for showers if there aren't any at the venue!
