Hi - I'm a Victoria Park Harrier so will be entering in this event.

I doubt that we'll be following the route that you mention above. The 'lap' is more likely to be from the club house (put E9 5EG into streetmap) around the loop at the north side of the park, then down the annex which goes down the middle of the park, then back up along the path which runs parallel to the Hertford Union Canal. The lap is about 2 miles according to my GPS.

For those who live around Victoria Park and are looking for people to train with, I'd highly recommend coming along to the club - the website is http://www.vphthac.org.uk/ - all abilities are very welcome.

Hope it's not too hot, 10k is a challenge in the heat.

10K is a challenge anytime for me who's only run one once before and I've had quite a long lay off due to ill health. but hey ho off I go, perhaps if I start now I'll finish on the 31st.

Supergran, hope you feel much better now? The early start is a cunning idea, I expect at least a top three finish.

Hi All,
A newby to this great website here and am looking for some advice, not another one! ;o)

I've completed a couple of 10k's before, most recently the Help a London Child one in Hyde Park last month with a time of 58 mins.

Since then I've only done a couple of practise runs, 30 mins or thereabouts so am wondering if I have had enough practise if I am to enter the Chest Hospital run?

I'm doing the windsor half marathon in september and am starting to worry about the distance already!

Help!

Hi W14 - if you've completed a couple of 10ks before then I'm sure you'll have no probs, esp as your time was 58 mins (better than my PB).

Most of my training runs are only 30 - 40 mins. If you get in a few more training runs before the 31st, you'll be fine.

:-)

Cheers Sezz, I'd better apply online soonish.

Only problem is a major drink-up on Friday 29th so better get plenty of agua in before and afterwards to dilute the Guinness!
