Thats cheaper than a lot of charities ? Isn't 2.5k more usual ?

Wish it was possible to get tour operator spots.   Would almost consider an inexpensive charity, but at those rates it's way too much $$$ especially since I can't get a tax exemption from Canada for it.

im surprised the minimum raise wasnt mentioned in the spiel. Seriously charities take the p. 1800 .... now say your average donation is a tenner thats at least 180 people you need to hit up. Good luck with that.

Exactly Mr I, and they wonder why they are struggling to sell the spots.

Wait till March they'll be flogging them at a loss or giving them away like the Great South Run.  The chugger bubble has burst I think, we saw it coming with the decline in numbers taking part in Race for Life and the increase of the park run.  Also who is going to sponsor you to do a marathon when your mate has just done an Ironman.

I'd rather sponsor someone doing a marathon than growing a moustache

Very true!

I'd rather grow a moustache than run a marathon

Run it slow enough and you can finish with a moustache.

You do get a free running vest and a massage!

And how much of the 1800 goes to charity? Take out the purchase of the marathon place (which charities get charged more than runners upto ??500 to vlm) then merchandise for supporters, hire of hotel room for post race massage, food showers etc, doesn't leave a lot to go back into the charity does it?

I know one charity that asks for ??1000 and doesn't have a running vest, a room after for food massage etc but apart from the fee to vlm the rest goes back into the charity

I'll get off my soapbox now
