London Marathon UK Championship Entries

Hi all, does anyone know if there are any requirements in terms of which marathon you use for UK Championship qualication?

In particular does it have to be in the UK? There isn't some sort of list or races that qualify?

I don't have the time yet Millsy, that's why I'm asking before I do the race, my PB is 2:47:51 from a couple of years ago so by no means a certainty. I qualified for Good for Age in 2010 for the 2011 race, had to defer to 2012 and then had to pull out this year as well. Now too late for a Good for Age entry.

So my question is then, how do I know if it's certified?

Yeah the course has to have UKA accreditation. Just email and ask if it isn't advertised.

Also remember that you can get on the Champ start with a half marathon time (that's how I did it)

If you've got a particular race in mind you could also ring up the VLM entry helpline and check with them; they were pretty helpful when I  had to check details because the website was wrong.

It is Pisa I am considering and it's certified/accredited by the Italian Athletics Federation (FIDAL) so assume this would be ok providing that non UK events are accepted, but that's what I need to find out. Will give VLM a call tomorrow.

kittenkat, I had been planning on the half, but the only one I could find suitable was Gosport on 18th November, whereas Pisa is 16th December giving me more time to train and I think sub 2.45 marathon is more achieveable for me than sub 1:15 half.

I knew I should have just asked you in the first place!
