I didn't see any Alpacas.
Gil, you'll find its a really good event. Well organised last year, especially for a first time. And unusually in an ultra markers every mile, and additional ones at marathon and 50k (but no times taken). I did notice the 31 mile and 50k markers were the wrong way round (50k just before 31 miles).
The start is quite a trek from the lap point though so bear that in mind timewise on the day if you've got drinks and bags to leave out.

Gil's helpfully emailed me a picture of alpacas so I know what to look for this time.
They look not unlike the pantomime camel in daughter's Cinderalla production we watched last Saturday.

Matt, the 72 hour winner is phenomonal, he actually got close to William's distance for his first 24 hours, he's run on the US 24 hour team then run 130+ miles 2 weeks later in the US championship, and that wasn't much before Across the Years. He's also very friendly and quite happy to talk to me if we coincided on the way round.
Last year he ran the 48 hour race and set the US record of 400km.
This year they'd made one special 300 mile award, hoping he'd get there, I think he had a few hours to go but stopped anyway for some reason!!!
