ATM - If a relay team can be assembled I give Mull of Kintyre a shot and if not I'll pop along for support/a nosey at the route.

Weedy - There's not much difference between my 10km speed and my half speed. I seem to be naturally better at knocking out a consistant pace rather than adapting to a faster pace over a shorter distance. All the more reason why I should be doing intervals once I get fit again. Plus I ran it at the Helensburgh Half, which has been a good PB course for me. That course really seems to suit me for some reason.

Get a big mixing bowl, fill it with boiling water and spoonfull of Vics and get your head under a towel over it.

I had to take the last 2 weeks off due to bad cough, 2 days of that in the evenings before bed, cleared the cough up almost completely. 

Thanks THG...it's just a hangover from 'flu but if that works to finish it/me off could be worth a go

Yeah mine was the same, it was the cough that just wouldn't go away after flu! very debilitating for running mind...

Belated congratulations to all Amsterdam PB Peeps and the fab new sub 4 achievers - am in awe.

DV:  how very impolite of me - a massive thank you for the dreadie hill workout - I'd forgotten how much I just love doing it!!!!!!

Managed 9 miles on sunday at a very lovely 9.30 mm avg pace and nothing broke so exceptionally happy!!!  10 x 400m speedy stuff tomorrow - wiosh me luck I may be sometime.

Tried to catch up but got lost ...........  so much to catch up with so little time .........

Green trousers were never in mate. Which leads me to qualify one of my earlier statements. When I said I a couple of pages ago that you were the person I looked up to on this thread, it was related to improving running speeds in the 2nd half of a running career, not your fashion sense.

I think OO and myself are doing VLM again next year, maybe PF too. Eggy won't be on his own.

hooray - a close friend of mine is running Paris. I called him up to see if he wanted to do LSRs with me as he lives close by and mentioned the Paris thing and turns out he is SO up for it - he always said he'd never run a marathon but i think he wants to use the training to get himself in some sort of shape. he's always been a good runner over the shorter distance - 40-42 mins for a 10K - very powerful chap - did a lot of kickboxing training/sparring over the years so not afraid of a hard workout. I'll try to steer him towards the thread as he's a complete marathon newbie.He's called Dan - we went to Primary and Secondary school and have been pals for our adult life so I am really pleased he's joining us. He's starting from scratch as he just had a couple of months of with a dicky hammy, so he's "pre-training" for a few weeks and will join me on some runs from mid December.

TJB - Good to get your friend on board for the long runs if you are both aiming for the same sort of pace.

I've known about half my mates since primary school, but I've never figured if that means I'm great at staying friends with folk or rubbish at making new friends! There's zero chance of any of that mob ever running a marathon though.
