Hey ATM, that's great! See you then

Brian, you can have my place tonight .... I'm in bed with the migraine from hell ... popping painkillers.  Completely killed any carb loading desires .... did manage a bagel.  I just hope it stays down.

Bon appétit tonight, I'm so sorry I won't be able to share in the fun.

See you at the Arc tomorrow!

Hey tartan! Thx for letting me know. I hope you feel better soon. Rest up and take it easy I'm sure you'll be fine for tomorrow. All the best

DV, 22 euro beer should come with a free night stay.
Bought a small Vaseline at a pharmacy for 6.90 euro. Maybe it's normal price in Paris, but feels very expensive to me.

TP - wishing you a speedy recovery. See you tomorrow.

Bibbed up (purple - aargh!), checked in, room strewn with running gear and porridge pots, feeling quite at home. DV - the best pots are made by Stoats, but they're quite difficult to find. Haven't tried the Sainbury's ones though.

In a queue outside the Expo. Hopefully it does not take too long to get inside. There seems to be a different approach to queuing on this side of the divide.

Weather looking perfect for tomorrow. Don't forget your shades.

I decided on my running gear. Long sleeve winter weight base layer, tshirt over the top, and a windstopper jacket. Gloves, beany, long socks and tights. I spend about 4 hours outside this morning, and it is freezing cold and windy.

I never intended this race for a time, so I go for compfort.

Still not clear about the bag drop points. And the blueone they gave usdoesn't take a lot.

Just broke the news to Mrs Mac that she will be looked after by two gentlemen tomorrow, one called Tricky Dicky and the other called Dirty Leeds Rob. She seems a tad apprehensive....?

Practically no queue when I got to the expo, time pen changed, hostel found (really nice, surprisingly...room upgrade is nicer than some hotels I've stayed in)...taking it all as a good sign and just going to laze around for the rest of the day. Super.

Larri..   it is a lovely bar with a spectacular view at night...   but lets face it, 22€ for a beer and on average about 19€ for a glass of wine   (a glass, not the bottle!) does make for an expensive night........

What could possibly go wrong?

All settled into hotel.
Had a minor panic when I powered up my Garmin and it got stuck on the initial screen. Got it to reboot eventually but still made me a bit nervous.
Hope it will behave itself tomorrow.

Reminders to everyone....:

  • wear your green WWKD wrist band (if you remembered to pack it!!!)
  • smile
  • when you finish, remember to hold your hands above your head to make a large O shape for the video that will be compiled later
  • have your race number clearly visible on the front and don't finish with someone immediately in front of you and makes you hidden from the camera....!
  • it's only a marathon, not something that has an influence on the rest of the world.   If it doesn't go your way, don't worry...  just enjoy it and there will always be another time..
  • if it does go your way and you do well, after you have done your big O, feel free to jump around in excitement and share it with everyone around you

Still can't decide on kit... Think base layer vest, with club vest over the top... Would wear gloves, if I had brought any.... But as I didn't !

Tartan:  from one migraine sufferer to another -ouch .... sleep and feel better

DV:  See you really are the oracle and font of all useful knowledge (amgoing pinch all of the above for Mont st Michel).....

Right all you people worrying about what to wear tomorrow. I was worried I'd be too cold, so thought I'd test it out at the breakfast run this morning. I went in 3/4 tights, t-shirt and throw away hoodie, with spare socks as gloves. And my hat. I reckon it was just right. I took the socks off after a km or two, but kept my throw away on the whole time. Was glad to see Mr T at the end with my other fleece, but other than that I think I'm good!

Mr T and I will see you guys at PP soon!
