Formaggio - parkruns are organised 5km events that are free to run in and available all over the place that take place on Saturday mornings. They're very popular in the UK, most places seem to have At least one. They're not chip timed, just gun timed and your position and time is recorded using a barcode you print. Organised and marshalled entirely by volunteers.

Heather - that's lovely of you to offer your spot. It sounds like a scary race! I too worry constantly about my ankles!

Orapid-one - Cutteslowe is the one I was talking about! I used to live on one of the roads leading to the park so I know it very well! If you're up for it on 27th then I'll definitely go but I suspect a small part of it will be wet!

Apologies for being off topic, but I did Paris in 2009. Great Marathon I thought. Great sites and has the natural clean air of any large City.

Thanks buster gonads! We're hardly ever on topic here so when are you coming back to paris? (We don't really care if anyone's running it or not, just means they miss out on a stonking weekend with a wee toodle around paris)

Morning all. Odd Garmin experience this morning - was getting strange readings on my run that suggested I was going absurdly fast, then at the end had a substantial overrun on a route I do regularly. Downloaded data and it had my start point about a mile away from where I actually started. Never had this before. I'll do a hard reset, but just wondered if anyone else had had this problem? It's a 310xt.

Went out for an easy 6 miler today, the wind was insane, HR was Threshold high when running into it and armchair low (well, not quite) when it was on the tail. Had to lean right into it and trail my arms behind like a plane, it was hilarious.

I knew exactly what you were talking about here on my run this morning. Absolutely crazy how windy it was. Upside - with a downwind I managed a 4.50km (with aeroplane noises). Downside: running half of the route in a full on headwind.

I had the exact same this morning but thought it was just me. Same watch, same route as yesterday but I was over a km longer. Apparently my fastest Km was 30seconds! I'll see how it is tomorrow and then reset if needed.

Ho-ho-Rapido - I haven't managed to find any photos from the MK half, where did you find them?

First they came for crappy Seth Rogen films, then they came for the runners...

Holly in a half-shell - I don't think I saw a single photographer all the way. Some runners seem to have finish line photos with their results, but none on mine (thankfully) or yours it would seem. Doesn't seem to be any reasoning behind it...

Ah, photographs in a race. I've done the Norwich half twice, and twice I've had zero photos. It's getting hard to convince people that I did actually do it!

I know that the number recognition functions are getting better, but if your arm/bottle/bin bag is obscuring the number, it'll take longer to be identified.

I did see the odd photographer but I was always running in a group so they would've been rubbish anyway, maybe they were for a local paper or something. I am very glad there is no finish line pics of me, I had my serious game-face on!!

This is the medal for Reading Half .... looks nice! I was thinking of scrapping this race but it is a pretty medal so I might turn up after all!
