I keep getting a "too many people trying to access the site" message when I try to go to an event page - as a new parkrunner - is this normal?  I can se why it'd get busy Saturday pm but not for the following 48hrs?

Just tried it - seems OK for me.

No, its not normal, Andy.

There has been a sudden surge in numbers participating over the last two weeks, presumably due to the weather, and as such the site seems to be creaking a bit. I'm sure they'll be on top of it though.

Its a learning curve for everyone involved so I think they're doing a pretty good job considering that large professional organisations seem to have exactly the same issues when scaling up an IT system.

Is that the "event" section, SJ, or the fromt page?  parkrun.com works fine - it's when you select an event and it goes to a parkrun.org.uk address that it gets bounced.

Yeah they've intentionally closed the mini sites by the look of it while they shuffle servers I would imagine

I'm sure it will be back soon! Looks like they need a virtual server hosting solution to me

Oh and if SJ can get in - that may be a cached version...

I ran in the Leeds Parkrun on Saturday and received the usual email afterwards tellling me by position and time but both were wrong.  The event has recently moved over to barcode reading at the finish (if you don't take your barcode you don't show up on the results at all) and I was wondering if there had been a blizzard of emails going back to Parkrun saying that the results appeared to be wrong and they had therefore taken down the results section of the site to sort it out.  If all of the event sites are down then I guess my theory is unlikely to be right although I do hope they manage to get the results for Saturday sorted out as I think I ran a good few seconds faster than Parkrun think that I ran judging by the email I received!

All the event sites are out (or were)...so its unlikely to be due to any problems at Leeds specifically.

If you had a weird result though - send them an email, hopefully they'll be able to sort it out for you

I think it is just an increase in demand on the site, year on year parkrun has been getting bigger, and given how good the weather has been recently, there have been many first timers who have increased the demand on the site.

To the runner above enquiring about your time and position, normally the system is fairly seamless, for example at Bushy Park on Saturday we had 672 runners, and managed to cope, just!

Your time is related to your position token given to you after the finish, and these are given in the order of the finishers so normally there is no confusion. The timekeeper at the finish line records all the finishing times, and these times correspond to the finishing positions. Normally there's no mix up, but if you think there was you should e-mail Leedsoffice@parkrun.com.

That was the second largest of all time, only the 5th anniversary at Bushy managed more with 806. There's loads of other parkruns nearby now, in Kingston, Richmond Park, Wimbledon Common, Bedfont Lakes, but Bushy still draws in the crowds!

Bushy is a great course, my fastest one anyway and a really nice park especially when the sun is out..

But Bushy's the only one with car park rage.

Some of the Bushy regulars should really start exploring some of the others. Timewise they're all pretty equivalent

How about splitting Bushy Park into 2 runs - one at 9 and one at 9.30?
19/04/2010 at 22:07
Howabout a 10k parkrun??
19/04/2010 at 22:21

How about splitting the field into two and sending them off in opposite directions?

A swift game of British Bulldogs at the cross over point should add to the fun...

You could also add in electric fences and water jumps.. or is that just my twisted mind at work??

I was about to go to Richmond for my first ever Parkrun but Bushy sound like the place to be lol
