No, I didn't run, was feeling unwell so I gave it a miss. I'll be doing the third one in January though. I'm with Wetherby Runners.

Richard, did you do the handicap at Golden Acre Park today?
06/01/2013 at 19:32
No it was our Club 'Winter Handicap' between Ackworth, Pontefract & back, so I ran that.

Will be at Bramley Falls though

Oh, you didn't see me win a prize then I came 6th! I'll hopefully be there next week, although it's my work Christmas do the night before, with a free bar :0/

Excellent!!, well done
Hopefully we should have quite a few members up there

On a similar (positional) subject;
I got a 3rd yesterday in the Handicap, but it was on actual times, not via the handicapping)

http://www.ackworthroadrunnersandac.co.uk/#/jan-race-results/4539765830

And a 4th last Sunday at Denby Dale in their 'Man v Bike' race (10 mile for riders/6 for runners)

07/01/2013 at 13:27

Thanks and well done to you too for Man v Bike.

The handicap is a bit of a bugbear with me, to be honest. I came 6th but if it was on time, I'd be in the bottom quarter. That's why it's a handicap. Last time my club took part in a handicap race, I was the third Wetherby Runner home. But when the results were mentioned at the next club night, it was the person with the fastest time who got mentioned.

That's NOT THE POINT! The faster runners get chance to finish in the prizes every time they run. The slower runners only get that chance when it's a handicap race and then the faster runners try to take that away as well.

And that's my rant over.

For ours, it was the highest (time) differential between the worked out time, & the actual time.
Helen took almost 5 minute off her suggested time

So in theory, I could've won your one anyway? Even as a slow runner? I'm pretty sure that I would've cut time off what was expected of me yesterday.

Yes, quite feasibly!

I only took just over a minute off my hypothesised time, so finished 20th/49 as a 'cap time. but as stated was 3rd going by the elapsed times

Some of our faster runners (ie; sub 35 minute 10K'ers) weren't there

As an aside, I managed a 49:52 for the 7 miles, with the winner recording 48:58, & 2nd = 49:08

RE; PECO

I'm on lates this week, so organsing car-sharing up to Bramley will require some phone-calls/texts, but seeign as I missed out last year, after injuring my left knee at Temple Newsam (& losing almost 5 months to it!), I'm determined to run every round in this series

I don't quite get it but well done for third

I've already missed one, so I'll hopefully be doing the rest. I was wavering about whether to enter the Silverstone Half which is on my birthday and the day of the last PECO, but I left it too late and there are only charity places left, which I'm not doing.

So I'm going to do the Liverpool Half, which is a few weeks later and I'll be able to do the last PECO on March 3rd. I didn't do any last year as I only joined the running club in February.

This weekend will be my first PECO race and im looking forward to it. I used to live on the other side of the woods so the course should be pretty interesting I reckon. Its 5.2 miles this weekend isnt it?

Yes, thereabouts

I take it you've seen the map on the PECo site??

Given your ex-locality, here's a site that may interest you;
