Hi Egyptian, i hope it isnt a fracture, if so, thats a real shame for you.
Ive had shin splints for the past month maybe, but i dont think ive helped myself my simply cutting my miles down rather than taking a break. But im on my hols in early September, so im hoping that will do as a suitable rest period and things have calmed down a lot.
I think im doing the guild wheele this Sunday and fingers crossed i should get round the full 21 miles if i do, do it.

Re:adidas shoes - I have to have shoes that are 2 sizes above normal in the trail shoes, but am a 7.5 in the road trainers. I don't know why there is a discrepancy
Has the discomfort started since getting new trainers?
I did 9, it took me 3 hours and i almost went the wrong direction a few times - but i did.
Yes numbers were low, but i wasn't surprised by that. I really enjoyed it and met some interesting runners.

Hi Mark, it is possible to train up to doing a marathon in the time you have. However, that said.....I would take things slower if i was you, esp as you seem to have an injury. For the marathon training, you would have to be covering at least 20 miles a week and that would only ensure you get round. For example the training program i am currently doing, has me doing between 30 and 40 miles a week at the moment. Why dont you get your self a training program for the HM your doing and see how that goes and then perhaps a week afterwards have a think about whether or not your ready / have the time to train up to and run twice that distance.
If is was me, i propably wouldnt do, but like i said if you really pushed yourself you could do it, everybody is different.
Mark I think if I was you I might wait for a marathon a bit later if you've only been running for 7 weeks you dont want to push it too much, get injured and then do this marathon without proper training it might put you off. I am hoping to do an 18 miler on sunday all being well since ther's no work on monday gives me an extra day to slob out lovely! No problem its a godo course, its tough but worth the hassle. Some bits it isnt too clear on which way to go. But im sure if you have a good study of the map your figure it out.
Up to 18 miles i see, sounds like your training is on track. Good work.
a 21 m fell race sounds fun!! I might one day take to fell running but two many road run targets at the moment.
Yes i was disappointed to find out there was no water stops but i had my water bottle with me, so it wasn't too bad. The most annoying part was the fact that they didn't provide water at the end of the run.
Well done on, your time. We might of even come across each other at one point. I thought the run started off way too fast. I think i was in the lead group at the beginning and they got to first mile at around 7 mins, so i dropped way back after that.
Sounds like everybody is out running Sunday morning. I am going to do the course, i posted a few days ago, should be interesting.

Wow that sounds like a tough race 9. There seems there seems to be more and more those things popping up. I think the hardest one ive heard of is the "Spine" thespinerace.com
And yes i passed a few of those that had carried on at the 7 min pace after we got up the hill. I guess a few were prob first timers at that distance and just got carried along, so if they are doing the mara. then it will have done them good to experience that.
My 20 mile route was a success on Sunday and if any one lives near the Leeds-Liverpool Canal i recommend it, i know we only ran on it for a few miles but it was nice going, quiet and car free!!
