Sunday 9th April 2006
Too icy out there for a safe club run so I have cancelled. 6 tempo miles on the treadie instead - safer and a damn sight warmer.
Keep safe and warm everyone
Evening - a tad chilly here but not as cold as England
It always feels colder when I get of the train in England in the morning
Evening. I managed the cycle commute on the bike but stuck to the well gritted main roads....... and wore the right gloves!
Not had time this week yet to measure the space for the treadmill to help with decision making.
No cycling for the last 2 days - much to icy to be safe. I'm slowly starting to put on my winter pounds. I need to get some time to do some more exercise!
On a better note though, E felt well enough to try a run this week, and didn't feel too terrible so hopefully he is starting to get a bit better.
Last day of the ice here too.........another treadie run done.
Another treadie run......
A skate to work this morning! I had to go in early as a colleague couldn't get her car off the drive. The main roads were OK but the back road and pavements were amazing, an invisible 1/2 inch layer of ice!
Then the rain came in.............
Wet here yesterday and some bugger nicked the signal cabling between cardiff and Newport - I nearly missed my works do
Finally had the x-ray on my foot yesterday
Good do Maddy?
We ran today. First time E and I have run together for ages. It was very muddy! 4.75 miles, all add to the log.
Open house this morning for the long run group, plan is to set off from here at about 0900 for 16 miles and mrs a will welcome us back with hot coffee, bacon sarnies and mince pies
Sounds like a good motivation for the long run. Well done Paul et al.
I had a terrible and night and have woken up with a really sore throat
E is feeling fatigued again as well so we are house grumpy here today,
Sports personality cheering us up here now.
My money is on Wiggo, but my heart goes with Ellie...
Jess I would be happy with. Mo... feels like he's sold himself out a bit with all the publicity he's done. Not taking away from his amazing achievement though, and the night of entertainment it gave us all.
We can't lose tonight really
I voted for Chris Hoy - I know wiggo is favourite but this year it is so hard to call it really - so I went for the best quads
Team award was the right one
Maybe not in the usual sense but the olympic team was aconglomeration of so many - hard choice so why not for this year the whole team
Interesting reading the BBC's own stipulation for the SPOTY Team Prize:
For the team in an individual sport or sporting discipline that has achieved the most notable performance in the calendar year to date. The team should have significant UK interest or involvement.
For the avoidance of doubt this criteria excludes Team GB/Paralympics GB but includes the likes of British Cycling, Rowing Coxless Four and the European Ryder Cup team.
Interesting point Paul. I had to go to bed before the end last night as I felt ill, but when E said TeamGB had won it sounded a bit odd. I though the Ryder Cup team would have it. It was the first, and probably the last, time I ever got excited about golf!
I'm still a bit ill. I didn't feel too bad until I'd worked 7 of my 9 hours. The final 2 hours of teaching really didn't help my throat...
