Rutland Water or Spires and Steeples - Events

I looking at doing my first marathon in the Autumn and can't make my mind up between these two - any recommendations?

Isn't Rutland Water a new one? I know the terrain, should be scenic and no more than undulating. No idea about Spires and Steeples.

Yes it's new this year. S&S is a point to point from Lincoln to Sleaford

Spires and Steeples is mostly flat with a great downhill start from the Castle. I'ts a lovely route passing through lots of villages and local landmarks.

The organisers provide transport to the start for a small fee and will take your bag to finish.

This year the Half starts at Metheringham and both races finish at the Hub in Sleaford.

Spires and Steeples sounds like a great event, but I think I favouring RWM. As this will be my first time at this distance (and possibly last), I want to be able to say that I've done a marathon and unfortunately I don't think that S&S is technically a marathon as it's referred to as a 26 mile challenge - so maybe next year if I'm up to tackling 26 miles again!
