Oooh its a nasty bug that won't ever go away you know
Not too bad really, there are worse habits
My next is a fortnight in the lakes at Windermere, which is very hilly I believe
I am local to Salisbury and doing this (as my first Marathon!)
I am in.... this was my first marathon and I have done it many times since.
I was going to do the half, but then noticed you can do a marathon for the same price as a half! I was thinking supermarket; 100% extra free! To say my 'free' second half was interesting is an understatement, lets just say my pacing was not as good as it could have been. But it is a great course; how many races go past/through three castles, two country estates and a cathedral?
Beware the weather... running marathons in the summer can be hard work!!
30k for me, I'm looking forward to this as I grew up in Salisbury and love to visit.
tempted with the 50....
Got my first marathon end of June then I'm going straight for the 50k in Salisbury. Was going to do it last year but dropped down to the 30k again due to injury and distance ran in training. I really enjoyed it and saw some lovely scenery, especially legging it past that massive castle that looked like it belonged to some rather posh people I cant wait to do it again this year, very good fun. Simple and well organised
My first ultra -doing the 50k - The Vicar - think I have the same plan as you, I'm doing the Giantshead Trail Marathon at the end of June, then keep on running! Sounds like a really friendly, well organised run, so I won't have to worry about too much about any aspect except actually finishing
There doesn't seem to be any real info about it online anywhere tho - my folks live near Yeovil and I would like to check out some of the route beforehand if possible.
It's a very local race run by the fire station, but well organised, well signed, and yes, you do get a camel included in the 50K but we have to share it. As I remember a few teasing hills, nothing major, split of road and trail, I'd recommend taking your own drinks on the 50K, I didn't last year and regretted it. The last part coming through the town fighting through the tourists must frighten them a little.
