It's that time of the year again ... this is a nice little village green race, organized by the ever-reliable Reading Roadrunners. It's also within easy cycling distance of Muttley Mansions so it would be rude not to.

I'm in!

I'm in too! Looking forward to it. I've got a cross-country on Guernsey, a local 2.5k fun run with my son and a 10k at Highclere Castle first. And the Swimathon. Maybe I've signed up for a bit too much...

It's my PB course, so I'll be there looking to break it

Always a good event this one, with a nice downwards finish (not exactly downhill, but still feels good.)

Last year it was sunny but pretty windy! Well organised though and a good atmosphere without being crowded. Worth doing.

Just entered for this. Not sure how well I will do as just did a marathon last Sunday.

3 days to go.. went easy round the Bracknell Half to attack this race. Watch out PB, you're mine.

Surrey Runner - I did my 10k PB at this race last year and I'd done VLM only 3 weeks before. Mind you it was a lovely, sunny day last year. This year watch out for the polar bears and icebergs......

Should I have got a chip in race pack or is it not chip timed?

No chip, just an old fashioned turn up and run race.

Heh Muttley cheers for that. I certainly do old fashioned

That was good. Perfect conditions. Course a little different at the start from what I recall, a little congested but delaying that uphill grind till a mile or two, which is good for warming up the legs. I have no idea why but I did a particularly good time this morning - the whole course seemed less hilly than in past years, or maybe the training is paying off.

I thought this was a good race - mainly downhill too!  Not a PB for me, but a decent time of around 47:30.  But...erm...what happened to the promised medals if you finished in under 90 minutes?  The mug is quite nice but not what I was expecting.  But on the whole this gets 10/10 from me - nice route, good atmosphere and friendly encouraging marshals.

You should read the race notes again, Hellywobs. It promises mementos, not medals. I gave my mug to the daughter of the lady who finished just in front of me, she appeared completely underwhelmed

Agreed, 10/10 from me too, great fun!

The website said medals and still does!

I was grumpy this morning - it was cold and wet and miserable, but it was a decent race.  Such a shame for the fair on the green that the weather wasn't better.

I thought there would be medals and I'm sure I saw it in the race literature somewhere - gongs for everyone under 90 minutes. Not a huge deal but still, disappointed.

Helly - I did 47:20 so you and I must have been pretty much side by side. Was it you I chatted to in the finishers' funnel? I was in a BBC vest.

Edit: RW page says memento, Reading RR site says medal. Still pleased I did the race but had it been absolutely pissing down I might not have turned out for a mug

What a lovely friendly race - thoroughly enjoyed it.  The website does indeed say there will be a medal, yet the literature that came with the race number said there would be a memento.  A mug is rather practical, I think!   10/10 as well from me

I was in a Hart Road Runners t-shirt - I think I was the only HRR there - probably a lot to do with the fact that the Hart Triathlon was also happening today in Fleet and there would have been a lot of HRRs competing or marshaling.
