This one is in my diary. Is anyone else doing it?

Me!

Me too!

Im thinking about this one, but as the furthest Ive run so far is 8 miles, not sure if this is too soon. Im doing a walking marathon on the 10th May, then a 5k on the 18th, then a 10k on the 26th.

does anyone think I could manage a half two weeks later..

is it really hilly in st albans ?

Me!
Probably!

You'll be fine to run a half marathon - just take it easy.

I would love to if I thought I had any chance of completing it... but considering I've only been running 4 weeks... and completed my first 3k race on Wednesday... I think I may have to leave it until next year :-)

I believe this run is undulating. A friend of mine did it a couple of years back. She said she didn't realise St. Albans was hilly.

I would love to do this as it is close but am on hols and don't get back until early evening so think I may be a bit late for it. Unless there are some real plodders entering!!!

I am sure you will be fine though.

Hi i have sent off my form for this one.

Scarlett, I'm also doing Moonwalk, and a 10k on 18th, then this event. St Albans has some sneaky hills, but I'm told it's no worse than Watford, or Berkhamsted...

How do we recognise each other?
02/05/2003 at 14:38
Hi

just wondered if anyone could give me a lift to this one, travelling from wimbledon area in london ?

Thanks

Probably doing this although I am also tempted by the Bedford embankment 6 on the same day.

As for Hills, there are a couple of smallish ones mainly from Verulanium park down to the road out of St Albans and more tricky back up near the end but not too bad and absolutely nothing compared to Watford or the very hilly Berkhamsted.

I'm hoping to do this one.
Anyone know how it compares to Stratford, which was also descibed as "undulating" ?

Hello all!

What is the cut of date for postal entries? According to site it is 8 June, but I think this may be cutting it a bit fine! ;-)

ANy done this and Bracknell Half? How do they compare?

Closing date is Monday, June 2 - entry form is printed in the St. Albans Review each week.
12/05/2003 at 14:43
Yep I'm in !! Only a long slow hill at around 3 miles and a few undulations...I wouldn't even compare it to Watford which I considered to be much harder
12/05/2003 at 15:16
Tops - I have done both and would say that Bracknell has less hills although St Albans are shorter... would highly recommend this one though as it is a really nice well organised event. Shame I'm missing it this year otherwise I would have been back!

The hills in St Albans are less severe than those on Watford, however they do last longer. The route last year mostly avoided the worst of the hills however it does finish with a very long boring straight gently uphill from Redbourn to St Michaels. As I say the hills are much less than the Watford half. Highlight last year was the young lady with the garden hose in St Michaels who misted down the runners ready for the final part through the park to the finish.

Not an awful lot hillier than Bath, and with runs through wooded country lanes, and only a single circuit so less boring.

Transport is good with Trains from Kings Cross Thameslink (and hence London Bridge Brighton, Blackfriars) to St Albans City very frequently. Or the hourly service to Abbey station from Watford Junction. Just of the M1. Fun runs for the family, and possibly a farmers market on, but it maight be the 1st of June.

Nice local run, well marshalled, enjoyable util that B****y Redbourne Road, but it makes the run through the park taht much more fun.

So yep I'll be there

Anyone else doing this? I haven't received my number yet. I'm begining to get worried about the organisation of this event.
Are my fears unfounded?
