Haven't got any trail shoes or spikes. How stupid would it be to do this in normal running shoes?

You'll get round. Over 600 entered already. Limit 750 because of parking, so expect the race to be full by next week.

Thanks for the info everyone, and for the pics Brian! By the way, I must say thanks for the photos from the Wolves half - for once I had one of myself that I actually liked and wasn't too embarrassed to show people

Looks like I'll be in short spikes then (6mm), depending on how my ankle feels (currently recovering from an ATFL sprain). I'm reluctant to get new shoes as a) I'd only ever need them for this race and b) I don't want to risk aggravating the injury with anything I haven't worn before.

What have I let myself in for??!

im in this 1 too - presuming my knees fixed! My first race for wbac.
Is it actually flat or r u jokin? Cuz baggeridge is ful of little hills rite?
12/11/2010 at 08:24

There are defiantly hills almost from the start and then near the finish there are some very steep steeps (Jacobs’s ladder).

It’s not the hardest of races but with the bottle neck at the start and then leading up to the first climb it’s never going to be fast.

There is a lot of mud, the water crossing and usually soggy leaves but it is a very scenic course and I would say fun to run.

I ran through Himley/Baggeridge on Sunday morning and there was not much water in the stream. Pretty muddy elsewhere though........

wot did every1 think? it was my first time, i really enjoyed it. really muddy in some streches, but i mastered the jump into the stream. Will be doing it again next yr, but certainly will be wearing spikes - i reckon that will take a couple of minutes off my time

Brilliant today. Took 1400 photo's at the water jump. That chap with the Toy Aligator wrestling in the water was a brilliant stunt. Results now coming up on West Midlands Running Scene

My first time today too Matt, thought it was every bit as good as I expected. A really good fun event. Managed to stay on my feet through the watercrossing but someone right behind me fell over and I was soaked by the bow wave! I have written a review of it http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/events/ratingsall.asp?ugn=1455
