Hello everyone,

Im also doing Tough Guy alone and for the first time - a little scared but excited too.

Am srsly considering a swim hat and knee protectors. Run four times a week so not worried about that - just everything else!!

Anyone want to buddy up please give me a shout.

Also - how do i know where  and when i start?

Cheers!

Hi Sarabop. you will be in the wetnecks like myself as it is our first, I am quite fit but you do more running than I so the run you should find easy but dont mind buddying up an the day if you like, it will be just a case of getting together before the start as it will be very busy, wetnecks will prob go off about 11-20am but will need to get down there much earlier to register ect ect, are you going down on the saturday??as for where to start you should rec info in the post very soon,

It's also my first time and I am doing it with my son. I think I am a dickhead which is a 20 mins delay at the start. Going to park in the town and walk as just spent ??25 for my husband, dad and niece to get in and watch us.
We did an 8 mile run today xcountry in 2 hours so terrain and distance not a worry BUT the obstacles and need for upper body strength is a huge concern (as is the cold, fire, electric, tyre tunnel, plank jumps etc).
Also son is allergic to horses and seeing as this is linked with a sanctuary is it 'horsey' on the course?

The horses get moved on race day, but for the showers after the race it s basically just the horse barn (or horse hydrotherapy unit as mr mouse likes to call it) with a holey water pipe running along the roof

bought my gear, thin things that dont hold any water but still should stay warmish, the water is going to be freezing, just planning to be in and out as quickly as possible, decent pair of gloves and good all terrain boots to run in, good luck to all, hope every body finishes the race, also if anybody going down on the saturday also to the friendly gathering for food and drinks on the saturday night let us know.

Hi Daren

Cheers for your message, ive found a girl locally who is also doing it alone so we are going to arrange to come up together early on the Sunday. We could meet up if thats possible and have a pow wow before and after... if you fancy it. We are all nervous and some friendly face wouldnt go amiss eh!

Ive done lots of cross country and cold weather stuff but not submersion, will have to deal with that on the day.

Have done a dress rehearsal today and ran 6 miles in the snow wearing a shortie wetsuit..... Cosy!!

the cold is the only thing to beat really ye, Ye could meet up , its going to be really busy thoughj that morning,  ofr me there will be others alone like myself , its good to have somebody to push you around the course when you need it, will prob just meet a random at the start..lol..cant wait though, cant believe its finally here....

Camlo , well done to you, I hope you all have a great day,

Omg I am terrified now. The weather drop is making me have palpitations about getting hypothermia. Have ordered a neoprene beanie to go with my shortie suit and gloves!

I am also doing this Sunday as a Wetneck. Done a few swim/runs in the sea as prep, hoping it will stand me in good stead for the w/end. Wish i'd have seen this earlier & done more work on my upper body strength but hoping to finish it.

22/01/2013 at 14:44

Hi All,

Getting fairly nervous myself now, pretty sure the endurance will be fine, can run 6 miles and hoping the adrenaline will carry me the last 3. Strengths not an isuue. I think just the cold is going to be unreal.

Is anyone else doing it on their own as i am and would be quite nice to have someone to go round with.

Good luck all!
