23 degrees? In their office maybe?!!!!

Muzzy- I do listen, I just don't take any notice

I ran/walked around the course on Saturday with a video camera (does an ipod nano class as a camera?) recording stuff on the walk sections, there's a link to it below .

It's totally raw footage with no editing and (partly) due to the awfulness of my own voice I haven't actually seen it all myself yet. This means it's probably as rough as a badgers backside, rubbish and mostly just me moaning about the heat....... but it's out there if anybody fancies a look.

I don't think there is any dodgy language in it but I'll apologise now just in case

Thanks again to IAn and the crew. A wonderful job done under tough tough conditions.

Love the link to the report morticia, I even got a mention I'll frame a copy

No idea who the chap was finishing with exactly the same time as me though, there was certainly no sprint finish. Had anybody been anywhere near me coming into the finish I would almost certainly  have been finishing behindthem (???)

Good grief iain!?!! You ran/walked and did some filming and finished 2nd?! Next you'll be telling us you stopped at parsley hay for a picnic and several beers as well- lol! Well done! I will have a look at your link when I am off my mobile internet and back on my computer. Are you doing the north devon marathon? If so, can you give me a piggy back round the course as it probably wouldn't slow you down much, and I would get a big PB!

We had a winter marathon in May 2008, and May 2009.

Ok well how about a summer one in november 2010 then?
26/05/2010 at 10:36
oooh yes, i like the idea of that

Hi Iain,

I really enjoyed your video.

I might give your walking technique a try one day

26/05/2010 at 15:51
I'd be up for a summer one in November 2010 - got a score to settle with that course. Even considering doing it on a cool summer day with my wife alongside on her bike, just to set the record straight!

Proper Bo- You could try my walking technique instead of Iain's and then you'd get an extra 2 and a quarter hours worth of White Peak joy

Great video Iain! Made me feel sick and tired just watching it (in an ill, not bored way I mean!)

Thanks morticia & proper bo.

There was no picnic stop, but there was a different type of stop at the toilets just before the turnaround which seemed to cause the feed station marshalls some amusement (Garmin says it cost me a place - ooops)

I've got no plans for the ND Marathon, but as it's only 5miles from my house I may yet show my face.... It's going to be a tough course and that 'little' climb around 16miles should be a nice little leg tester for you.

Iain, really enjoyed the video

Glad I'm not alone in the run/walk strategy, but mine is more conservative.

Have I missed something. 2nd place in Half (age category), no prize??

What were those 4 concrete posts sticking out of the ground at around the 20 mile point?

Is there a date for 2011 yet?

Thanks

18/08/2010 at 11:09
They don't usually set the date for a while yet Loz.

Ok thanks for that - I'll keep looking for it as I really like the sound of this one.
