Online entry now open for the Wigan Trail 10k, (formerly known as the Amberswood Trail 10k).

The big news is the FREE Pie and Peas for all pre-entries is back by popular demand!

A quick and basically flat off road course on bridle and pathways, followed by calories replenishment in tradtional local style!

The event has built a reputation for its low key, friendly atmosphere welcoming all levels of runner. Its speedy enough to keep the fast club runners happy, and picturesque enough to give a taste of off-road running without being an outright hilly mudfest!

Just to clarify: the medal is only for the 2.5k fun runners and the free pie and peas is for advance entries to the 10k race only.

Entries rolling in now for what looks like its going to be a record year for the event!

This is a great trail race suitable for all abilities. The course itself is flat on good pathways. This makes it excellent for those not used to running off road and also gives the potential for a fast time.

Amberswood nature reserve is the venue and it's hard to believe this was formerly coal mining land as it is now a green oasis and a great place for running.

The race is well organised with the opportunity for a cheeky recovery pint!

Definitely doing Wigan Trail 10k in May. Hoping the organisers book the good weather again!

Great race.

Will be there again in June, done it the last 2 years, really good atmosphere with lots of mixed ability runners and a very scenic course.

Love a pie after a race me...

Great news that the fox is back!

Are pre-entries still eligible for a free pie? Not that I eat them of course being an athlete.

is that the George Clooney lookalike silver fox?

30/04/2014 at 11:04

Oh yes a Clooney lookalike but these days runs like Clooney's Grandad.

Yep - till not too late to secure your pie and peas! All pre-entries qualify for some pastry based carb re-fuelling!

We are hoping to sort out free souvenir pics again this year for every runner - watch this space for more details!

Pleased to report we will have a couple of photographers out on the course snapping away. All the pics will be available for free download from Picassa after the race. We aim to get a pic of everyone who runs hopefully!

That's good news, there were some cracking photos taken last year.

Just come across a photo of the start from last year's event.  Sunshine again please!

Its on order!

With about 3 weeks to go we have already more than doubled the pre-entries for last year. There are places left but make sure you dont leave it too late to get your free pie and peas secured by entering in advance!

The race really has gone from strength to strength over the past few years but this year looks set to be the best yet. It should be a fab atmosphere with so many runners turning out.

We now have more pre-entries than we had total finishers last year. Should be a super day

We do expect to have entries on the day but you will have to buy your own pie and peas unless you get a pre-entry in now!

Closing date for on-line or postal entries to be received is 25.05.14.

Don't miss out!
