Any one know if this is totally off-road and/or the location of a map?

I presume there is a significant amount of forestry roads/paths and will probably do it if so, as I have a bit of an aversion to tarmac! Would also like to do a recce prior to the race.

The race is totally off road, on forest tracks and trails. Hilly, with beautiful scenery.

this is maybe the hardest half marathon i've ever done, it made me want to cry. and fall over. but im back for round 2

Are there any showers? Or showers nearby? A swimming pool even?! Just I want to spend the day down there afterwards and would prefer to be clean!

I'm afraid not Runner 33, the nearest showers and pool would be the Glades Leisure Centre 3 miles away in Kidderminster.

Stacey - of course you are! but I am sure you will love it - off road is much nicer than tarmac!

I haven't entered yet - if there are organisers lurking on this thread - are there likely to be places on the day?

Hi, only just heard about this one, hope there are several 'on the day' places to be had! Is there a route map anywhere? What sort of terrain is it?

Various terrain Tricia - it's tracks and paths around the Wyre Forest. Various from wide, well constructed paths that the forestry vehicles travel along to narrow (sometimes very muddy) paths through the trees. Lot's of steep inclines, so you certainly won't get bored! Ran this one last year, and am looking forward to another couple of hours of running through beautiful scenery with no cars in sight on Sunday

I bought some multi-terrain running shoes for the Forest Of Dean Half this year - would anyone recommend these for the Wyre Forest Half? Or standard road shoes?

Hi Adrian, I'd recommend some well cushioned trail shoes or just normal road shoes this year. Ran in the forest last weekend and it's very dry. Will be running the course tomorrow evening to do some last minute checks, but can't see things changing.

Hi All

Ran the course last night . It's very dry on route and I wore my Salomon trail shoes which where fine although so would regular road shoes. We will have 3 drinks stations on the course , but carrying extra is not a bad idea.

I'm looking forward to this in a sort of "I must be mad to be running this"type of way..... I've run about 20 Half Marathons in the last 3 years and fear this will be the hardest? My PB is 1:37 but I expect to run this in over 2 hours. Does that sound about "par" for the Course guys?!
