Lord Peter Wimsey is one character I am drawn to. He is (in my head at least) quite gorgeous, horribly intelligent, but has human frailties like anyone else. On TV they always play him as a terrible toff, but I don't get that to the same extent from the books. Anyone esle HATE it when they film a book and just totally and utterly miscast the lead character? It is so completely not how you pictured them that the whole things fails? Two examples stand out for me: David Jacobi as Brother Cadfael (no, far to prim and proper) and David Jason as Rincewind (too old and bumbling).
