Not impressed so far as I'm not even listed :(

impossible I ran with my sister all the way as she has stated already and she got to the finish line before me so how come my chip time is faster than hers. Seems as though the chip times havegone mad. Oh well back to the drawing board. Perhaps i will do better nexttime

I thought it was a dramatic and beautiful place - a mix of stunning, modern and old, urban architecture. Indeed I felt proud of my city and my stadium as I struggled round. I did check for any glimmer of humility - no - none, just pride. I still miss Maine Rd.

1 hour 10 mins for me, which considering it was my first 10k race and only second time running 10k, I'm generally quite pleased with.
Chip time and watch agree to within 30 seconds. I'll always trust the watch myself and official results be damned. Unless you're in the top 10 what the chip reckons surely doesn't matter?
I was helped by the fact I managed to find a nice pace-lady halfway through the first lap and we pulled and pushed each other the rest of the way. Good race!

The chip times should be very accurate. Each chip is unique and sends a signal to the gantry as you pass under it.
I thought it was strange that they were scanning your chip at the end though as this could lead to erroneous times depending on what you did between the finish line and the scan. Perhaps the scan was just to check if the chip was active or maybe to deactivate it. I'm sure someone can clear all of this up.
What did we do in t'old days?

I'm missed off the results as well, as was one of our club mates :-(
The winning lady is actually a 'he'

My chip time was 56 seconds out. I don't think our time was measured as we crossed the start line automatically and only recorded by the wand at the end. A bit of a let down when you pay £16 for a race.

chip timing at the BUPA Manc 10k run was spot on. this used ankle chips and mats on the floor, a better set up?
|
 |
Looks that way.. I kind of liked the chip in number idea- but I wouldnt like to be the Sales Manager for the company who provided yesterdays solution- as it appears not to have delivered and word does spread quickly.
Shame if this is a gaff as it was a really well organised day.

I do have to say though I was really impressed with the event, which was very well organised in every possible way, chip timing is out of their control really, hope they manage to get it sorted if not for this year maybe next. I agree the GMR ankle chips and mats are clearly the best option but no doubt far more expensive. I will certainly be back next year :-)

I agree - great event, bad timing, I'm sure they will respond to feedback.

Dont know if the ankle chips would be more expensive. you put the mat on the floor as opposed to the gantry we ran under, and also it must be very time consuming to stick the chip, and long black aerial onto the back of each number with the plastic.
thought it would be easier just to pop the ankle chip into the envelope.
also, at the GMR you had to send them back - still got my chip on the number from sunday?

Didn't have any problems with my time. Chip time spot on with my watch and gun time 20 seconds slower.
Great event. Far superior to the Bupa 10k.
Does anybody know if there are any race photo's on any websites?

haha, great, I just found the picture of me. It's awful.
Despite the earnest attempts to keep me from saving my picture off the second site there, I have anyway ;)

My "chip time" was bob-on with my watch, so no complaints from me.
It was my first 10K (and first foot race in 10 years) and all seemed fine to me. I somehow even got the pace about right, apart from not starting my sprint finish before entering the stadium, and finished close to my predicted time.
|
 |
I heard a lot of announcements before the race warning people not to warm up on the far side near the gantry as it could mess up the chip. This may explain some of the errors?
|
 |
Anyone know what time the race/highlights will be shown on Channel M today?
I've checked the TV guide but the only thing mentioned is "The Run" at 11pm - I thought that would be it but apparently this weeks programme "has the team doing aerobics, meeting a nutrionist" etc etc, so I'm thinking it ain't that!
|
 |
You might well be right although I had stopped going that end well before they said we had 5 minutes to clear the area.
