 Awesome guys, simply awesome.

Good job guys, well done. It was an epeic following your progress throughout the day so i cant imagine what it must have been like.
Once again i am heartened by what can be achieved if you have the courage and desire to really go for it. You should all be proud of what you have achieved, even if you didn't get to the finish line.
M. i had been following throughout the day over on "Pink & Fluffy" (General), i even dared to take the micky but they were having none of it.

Made a change over there to the abuse we normally give each other over here, foggy even apologised when he blew my viewing for the tour and golf by sending a spoiler, normally that abuse would have lasted 2 pages !
thought the day was very special for all involved and I hope we haven't managed to ruin anyones sporting careers by taking them to the edge of limits and back again ! tis a hard hard day and to have so many finishers is astounding, I feel very sorry for the two guys who didn't finish but I am sure they will find some 'up' from all the hard work that got them there to the start line. from what I could work out, it sounded like existing injuries got the better of them but a storming effort nonetheless.
tonight is party night so I don't think we will be hearing much ;-)

Right back in a familiar arena, hopefully this will stay alive long enough for race reports etc and updates from the pirates on their rest day.
|
 |
We will have to have the 'keep the thread alive' campaign (I am sure there is a 'Queen song in there somewhere'
Keep this thread alive keep this thread alive It'll take you all your time and a money Honey you'll survive

Huge congratulations to everyone, I followed as best as I could while stuck in a three hour traffic jam coming home from the Nationals.
Everybody did brilliantly and I don't want to single people out but ...
Gary (TC), I knew you had it in you to do well, but not THAT well, I am speechless.
Dick (FB), he looked me in the eye after Vitruvian Half Ironman and said he knew his limits and there was no way he could do twice the distance, but he was wrong.
Lindi and Ratbag. I'll admit now to an amount of scepticism when you signed up for it, but I have total admiration for your resolve in training so hard, overcoming some fears along the way and proving me so spectacularly wrong.
Carl, you did it mate, you are an Ironman.
Wish I could have been there to see it.
DD and Zilla, hope you are recovering, physically and mentally. Come back for another try next year, you both definitely have it in you.

So who owns the Forum Ironman PB now?
|
 |
Anyone know how wonderboy got on (or am I being thick again?)
Is Chris Morris Wonderboy?
I've got headache.................

I think it is still Rosey by a couple of minutes, 10.32 or something last year in Austria. I would say on degree of difficulty TC's time is probably better on a tougher course, but on that basis Rosey's 10.43ish at Nice would be best of all.
That will all change in Germany 2006, of course!!
|
 |
I would say that TC is the biggest sandbagger on this forum...
:o)
Well done to all the swiss Ironmen, new and old.

yep- well done to everyone out there and hope youre enjoing som well earned beers
|
 |
congratulations to all you IM finishers, esp any virgins. You are ironmen!
Hope you had loads of fun and beer.
|
 |
I think its still me on 10.30 at Austria which is on an easier course.
If we did it on similar courses and conditions, Nice and Switzerland, I think I am up by about 2 minutes over TC, his is 10.48.51 and mine is 10.46.49. And its those 2MINS that count haha !!!
Looking at TC's results I was lucky to hang on as well, who says you can't win it on the swim !!!!
I have to improve my run for Germany as I am sure his swimming will improve, however,I did hear him say that he won't be doing one next year for fear of pain of girl friend seperation !! One less to worry about !
"That will all change in Germany 2006, of course!!"
Thats a challenge that can't be ignored.

The decision to go somewhere is starting to take hold already I feel, I think me and you are headed in the same direction Rich, would love to do Austria again but thats just it, again !
Still holding til a few of the others get back but if we had a few of the guys who did Germany to check out hotels they used that would help to sway in one direction or another.
And the later date is pushing me that way, summer riding is bl00dy superb !
