Backpack washing advice please

I was thinking of washing (by hand) my Salomon 10+3 vest backpack, get rid of the accumulated sweat before messing it up again on my first 50-miler. No care instructions that I can find. Any recommendations? Okay to use a bit of normal non-bio detergent liquid?

I have a Karrimor backpack which gets grubby - I just put it in the machine on a synthetic cycle. 

Comes up good as new.

Mine goes in on a 30C synthetic cycle with the rest of my running stuff and is fine
